Ovarian cancers constitute a group of tumours characterized by a variety of histological patterns. The classification used is that of the W.H.O. Common épithelial account for two-thirds of all ovarian cancers. In this group, tumours of borderline malignancy should be distinguished from adenocarcinomas. Since these lesions are associated with an unusually good prognosis, it is of major importance to rule out an infiltration of the ovarian stroma. Extra-ovarian spread of borderline tumours probably results from a multifocal process which is not associated with the poor prognosis of metastatic involvement. Tumours of the mesenchyma and sex cords are less frequent, as are germ cell tumours. For the latter, preoperative assays of serum markers can be of help in the diagnosis and management of the cases.

Intra-arterial hepatic chemotherapy is effective in the treatment of colorectal or endocrine carcinomas liver metastasis. However it is potentially toxic for the healthy liver. To check this, we studied non tumoral liver specimens in 14 patients treated by intra-arterial chemotherapy with 5 fluorouracil, 5 fluoro-2 deoxyuridine and an association of 5 fluorouracil and streptozotocin. The main hepatic lesions observed were: sclerosing cholangitis, central vein (dilatation and fibrosis) and moderate hepatocellular necrosis or cholestasis in the centrolobular area. Thus intra-arterial hepatic chemotherapy has important toxic effects on healthy liver, even if clinical and biological liver disturbances are minimal in most cases. Caution must be exercised in using this method.

We studied nine cases of endometrial carcinoma and twenty of cervix carcinoma. Correlation with histology is made after curietherapy in 8 cases of endometrial carcinoma. Tumor is not always seen and particularly when there is no mass effect on macroscopic examination. Myometrial invasion is not seen with accuracy: the interruption of "junctional zone" is not a good sign. The cervix tumors are well seen on T2 sequences before any treatment. There extra uterine extension is difficult to appreciate. The best results of RMI were in the follow-up after radiotherapy. Therefore it appears actually to us the best indication of RMI.

Age and sex variation in the expression of grief were examined using a structured assessment to test clinically based impressions that widowers by comparison with widows and older bereaved persons by comparison with middle-aged counterparts would report distinctive aspects of grief and less intense distress. One hundred and fourteen acutely bereaved spouses were interviewed one month after a loss. The psychological assessment used was designed to measure several dimensions of grief including separation anxiety, numbness-disbelief and depression. Widows reported significantly more numbness-disbelief and depression than widowers but no difference in the intensity of separation anxiety. Contrary to our hypotheses, no attenuation in the intensity of grief was observed among older bereaved spouses, though they reacted to the loss with less emotional numbness and disbelief of the reality than the middle-aged comparison group. Furthermore, they reported no more neurovegetative or illusory symptoms than middle-aged, bereaved spouses. Older widowers experienced more separation anxiety than younger widowers. It seems possible that these differences account, in part, for age and sex variation in the morbidity and mortality of bereavement.
Malignant atrophic papulosis was first described by Degos in 1942. It is an occlusive arteriopathy involving small caliber vessels in the whole organism. Ocular involvement was reported in 35 out of the 105 observations published so far. The ophthalmological symptoms were reviewed and compared to a personal case. They consist of either involvement of the eye tissues with a predominance of the conjunctiva (but also sclera, episclera, retina, choroid and optic nerve), or of neuro-ophthalmological lesions. Up to now, both etiopathogeny and appropriate treatment of the disease remain unknown.

The authors report a case of sebaceous adenocarcinoma of the eyelid developed in meibomian glands. This tumor grew slowly for several years and was diagnosed three years after an intestinal adenocarcinoma was discovered in the same patient. This case is part of a Torre's syndrome (association of a sebaceous neoplasm and a visceral malignancy). Such an association represents an original example of multiple tumors and shows that the discovery of a sebaceous tumor, benign or malignant, indicates a careful search of an internal malignancy.

A case of malacoplakia of the gallbladder is described. The cytoplasm of histiocytes in the gallbladder wall was filled with granules positive for periodic acid-Schiff, von Kossa's, and Perls' stains, which is highly suggestive of malacoplakia. Both local inflammation and recent neoplasia could have played a role in the histogenesis of the malacoplakia.
