[Necrosis of the bone marrow].

The authors analyzed the incidence of necrosis of the bone marrow in nonselected autopsy material. The studies included 419 cases of various disease types. Necrosis of the bone marrow was found in 83 cases (19.8%). It was most frequently observed in patients with neoplastic disease of the hematopoietic and lymphatic systems (26.3%) and malignant neoplasms of different origin (21.9%). In 40% cases necrosis of the bone marrow were accompanied by neoplastic metastases into the hematopoietic tissue, and thrombotic changes in the blood vessels occurred in 22.9% of these cases. Our results point to a fairly frequent occurrence of necrosis of the bone marrow, especially in the course of neoplastic disease.

[Lymphocytic aggregations in the bone marrow: their occurrence and morphologic analysis].

We analyzed the morphology and incidence of aggregations of mature lymphocytes of the bone marrow in the autopsy material of 425 cases excluding disorders of the hematopoietic and lymphatic systems. We found that lymphocytic aggregations occurred in 21.1% cases. There were two morphologic types of lymphocytic aggregations of the bone marrow, namely lymphoid follicles and infiltrates. It was shown that the incidence of lymphoid nodules of the bone marrow increased with age and that the structures were more frequent in women. We pointed to the significance of lymphocytic aggregations presence in the bone marrow in differentiating with malignant infiltrations of the lymphatic system involving the bone marrow.

[Radioisotope studies of the brain, adrenal glands and adipose tissue in acute lindane poisoning].

Results of the examinations on radioactivity of the adipose tissue, supraprenal glands and the brain after intragastric administration of lindan--14 C in the dose evoking acute poisoning show that it accumulates in the examined tissues. Its highest concentration was observed in the adipose tissue, slightly lower in the supraprenal glands and the lowest one was noted in the brain. It was found that a considerable amount of lindan absorbed was expelled from the tissue during the first 4 days of exposure, but the remaining part was expelled from the adipose tissue and the brain during 36 days, and from the supraprenal glands after 36 days of the experiment.

[Comparative studies of radioactivity of the blood and urine of rats after intravenous, intraperitoneal and intragastric administration of C-14-labeled lindane].

The results of blood and urine radioactivity investigations carried out on male Wistar rats after intravenous, intraperitoneal and intragastric administration of gamma-Benzene Hexachloride-14C indicate that this pesticide is absorbed from blood within 15 hrs after intravenous, 25 hrs after intraperitoneal and 35 hrs after intragastric administration and is excreted in urine within 35 days. A very high level of excretion was observed during the first 4 days after intravenous, 7 days after intraperitoneal, and 8 days after intragastric administration.

Intestinal and hepatic changes following superior mesenteric artery occlusion shock in dogs.

The protective role of the liver in haemorrhagic shock was strongly suggested. However, hepatic changes in other forms of shock has not been elucidate the purpose of present work were to investigate. The morphological and histochemical changes of the liver in SMAO shock were observed. In six mongrel dogs severe SMAO shock was produced by occlusion of superior mesenteric artery for 4 hours and experiment was terminated when agony of animals began. Six healthy dogs severed as control group. In SMAO shock the microscopic findings supposed severe necrotic changes in intestinal epithelium. Simultaneously distinct degenerative changes in hepatic cells with vacuolization of enzymic cytoplasm. The reaction to acid phosphatase was more intensive and partially diffuse. The staining reaction alkaline phosphatase, succinic dehydrogenase, and lactic dehydrogenase varied from strongly positive to negative. Different changes of p.a.S. reaction and protein and groups SH and groups NH were observed suggesting the damage hepatocytes. The results of this study suggest the severe disturbances in hepatic morphology and function following the SMAO shock. The pathogenesis of this changes is discussion.

[Studies of radioactivity of the blood and urine of rats after intravenous administration of the C-14-labeled gamma isomer of hexachlorocyclohexane].

The results of blood and urine radioactivity investigations carried out on female Wistar rats after intravenous administration of gamma-benzene hexachloride--14C indicate, that the pesticide is absorbed of blood circulation during 6 hr and excreted in urine during 35 days. Very high level of excretion was observed during first four days after injection, middle, expressly decreasing level during 5-th to 14-th day and low level during the remaining days of experiment.
