[Retinal arteritis in Liebow's lymphomatoid granulomatosis].

A case is reported of central retinal artery obstruction appearing during the course of a Liebow lymphomatoid granulomatosis. Extrapulmonary manifestations of this necrotizing angiitis, and the differential diagnosis with Wegener's granulomatosis are discussed.

[Acute insufficiency of the chorioretinal circulation].

This is a study of 6 cases of sudden drop in visual acuity manifested by a central scotoma. Fundus examination showed ischemic oedema of the posterior pole and in 3 cases the presence of cotton wool bodies. Fluorescein angiography shows a constant delay in choroidal injection associated or not with a delay in central retinal arterial injection. All these patients have carotid artery circulatory insufficiency. We present a discussion of the pathogenesis, the possible role played by choroidal artery obstruction in the macular injury.

[Sympathetic ophthalmia and microsurgery of the posterior segment].

Clinical, angiographic and histologic findings in a case of sympathetic ophthalmia are reported. There was a time interval of two years between injury and onset of symptoms of sympathetic ophthalmia. The incidence of sympathetic ophthalmia after posterior segment surgery is discussed. The risk is low (0.01 p. cent) when vitrectomy is performed in the absence of ocular wounds, but increases for complex and repeated surgical procedures (0.16 p. cent).

Fluorescein Angiography↗

[Posterior acute ischemic optic neuropathy (author's transl)].

Posterior acute ischemic neuropathy is a new and distinct clinical entity. This syndrome associate unilateral visual disturbance with arcuate or altitudinal defect. Ocular ophthalmoscopic examination and fluorescein fundus angiography are normal at the onset of the disease. Later develop varied degrees of optic atrophy. Association with anterior optic acute ischemic neuropathy on the other eye is possible. Systemic lupus erythematosus, periarteritis nodosa, temporal arteritis, and arteriosclerosis are often involved. Study of three personal cases. Discussion on pathogenesis.

Acute Disease↗

[Electro-oculography and the glaucomatous eye (author's transl)].

A study was conducted using precise electro-oculographic measurements and taking into account not only Arden's "ratio" but also the absolute values in 14 cases of open angle and 3 cases of closed angle glaucoma. Results showed that in cases of open angle glaucoma there was an overall increase in base line values which was more pronounced for the minimal value (dark through); in the case of closed angle glaucoma there was an increase in the maximal value (light rise). After surgery there is an overall increase of the base line value in the operated eye.
