[The function of the hydrokinetic and ekbolic pancreas after acute pancreatitis].

Thirteen patients were investigated 3-4 weeks (I. examination) and 3-5 months (II. examination) after the ceasing of the signs symptoms of an acute pancreatitis concerning their hydrokinetic and ekbolic pancreas-functions. In addition, the pancreatic ducts were demonstrated by ERCP. Reduction of the secretion were shown in 31% at the I. examination and in 23% at the II. examination. There were significant differences in the outputs of bicarbonate, trypsine and chymotrypsine compared to healthy test persons at the I. examination. At the II. examination, however, no significant differences could be observed compared to healthy test persons. The exocrine function of the pancreas was getting worse during the interval between the I. and II. examination in 2 cases but it became normal in 5 cases. Pathological alterations at the pancreativ-duct-system were not demonstrable shown at all.

Gastric mucosal blood flow and pepsin secretion in dogs--stimulation by 13-nle-motilin.

In response to graded doses of intravenous 13-norleucine-motilin (13-nle-motilin)--a synthetic analogue of motilin and biologically equivalent to the natural polypeptide-, gastric mucosal blood flow (GMBF) in canine vagally denervated fundic pouches was studied using the aminopyrine clearance technique. As 13-nle-motilin did not exert any detectable effect on gastric secretion of hydrogen ions, intraluminal instillation of 160 mM HCl was used to provide a pH gradient allowing aminopyrine to move into the pouch lumen. With increasing doses of 13-nle-motilin, GMBF increased to 148% of control values; pepsin secretion - due to augmented pepsin concentration - rose concomitantly. Enhanced pepsin secretion was not accompanied by an increase in cyclic 3',5'-adenosine monophosphate secretion.

[Studies on the Pharmacology of 6alpha,9-difluoro-11beta-hydroxy-16alpha-methyl-21-valeryloxy-1,4-pregnadiene-3,20-dione (diflucortolon valerate) (author's transl)].

The topical and systemic anti-inflammatory action of 6alpha,9-difluoro-11beta-hydroxy-16alpha-methyl-21-valeryloxy-1,4-pregnadiene-3,20-dione (diflucortolone valerate, Nerisona) was studied in the rat in comparison with fluocortolone, diflucortolone and some other corticoids. In addition the effect of the compounds studied on the following parameters of corticoid activity was examined in the rat: body weight and weights of thymus, spleen and adrenals; blood sugar concentration and liver glycogen content; diuresis and Na+ and K+ elimination with the urine; the binding of diflucortolone and some diflucortolone-21-esters to the cytoplasmic corticoid receptor of the rat's thymus was also determined. In all tests diflucortolone was shown to be a corticoid with very potent topical and systemic action. Diflucortolone valerate showed the same potent anti-inflammatory action on topical application as the unesterified compound. After subcutaneous administration, however, the systemic corticoid action of the valerate was considerably inferior to that of diflucortolone on account of the kinetics of the more lipid soluble ester.

[Gastrointestinal hormones and blood circulation in the gastric mucosa].

The gastrointestinal hormones influence gastric mucosal blood flow in different ways. Gastrin, secretin and pancreocymin increase gastric mucosal blood flow, glucagon, vip and somatostatin decrease it. Motilin has a special position. Given alone motilin improves gastric mucosal blood flow, wheras it reduces gastric mucosal blood flow after previous administration of pentagastrin or histamin.
