The authors report the techniques used and the results obtained in a experimental study of autogenous ovary grafts in rabbits. The various methods of control--histological, hormonal and isotopic--used to measure the vitality of the grafts, showed their good quality. Active ovarian tissue was found to be present within the graft: 17 beta-oestradiol and progesterone secretion was demonstrated by means of radio-immunological plasma dosages and LH fixation in the ovarian tissue graft was shown by means of 131 iodine. This recovery was however accompanied by a loss of ovarian functional potential and chances of impregnation and gestation were reduced due to a strong peritoneal reaction.
Blood prolactin levels were measured under basal conditions and following the intravenous injection of TRH at time 0, 30, 60 and 120 minutes in 22 men and 21 women insulin-dependent diabetics, aged less than 50 years and not taking any drug influencing prolactin secretion. Prolactin levels were significantly higher (alpha = 0.05) at the 120th minute in male diabetics and under basal conditions and at the 60th minute in female controls. There was no correlation with retinopathy, age and control of diabetes. At the 30th minute, prolactin levels were higher when diabetes was of more recent onset. These results confirm the absence of any participation of prolactin in the development of retinopathy, although variations in prolactin may be seen in association with the presence of diabetes.

When the eggs of the newt Pleurodeles waltlii, at the beginning of the first furrow formation, are submitted for 10 minutes to a sudden increase in temperature (37.2 to 37.3 degrees C), the subsequently developing embryos are tetraploid. The percentage obtained of viable individuals is about 30% of the number of treated eggs. A temperature between 36.2 and 36.4 degrees C applied at the same period and for the same length of time may lead to viable animals diplo-tetraploid mosaics as previously reported.--Cytological examination showed that at the formation of the first furrow the egg contains two interphase nuclei. During heat treatment, cytoplasmic cleavage regresses resulting in an uncleaved egg with two interphase nuclei. About 2 1/2 hours after heat treatment the egg divides again into two cells. Tetraploidy results from doubling of chromosomes of both nuclei instead of the second mitotic division. The mechanism which leads to tetraploidy consists in inhibition of the movement of the two asters and aberration of spindle formation.--The mosaic animals develop from eggs in which only one of the nuclei became tetraploid while the other one divided normally.
Case report of a girl with fibrous osteitis lesions associated with clinical and biological symptoms of pseudo-hypoparathyroidism: hypocalcemia, hyperphosphoremia, absence of increase of phosphaturia (urine phosphate level) and especially of cyclic AMP after parathormone injection, high serum parathormone level. Similar cases described in literature are shortly analyzed. The genetic, pathogenic and nosologic problems of such an association are reviewed.
