[Levamisole in the treatment of therapy-resistant folliculitides].

Report on two cases with chronic folliculitis of the face, resistant to antibiotic therapy. In both cases Staphylococcus epidermidis was the only organism that could be isolated. After a comparatively short treatment with levamisole (150 mg on two successive days weekly) the lesions cleared completely.

[Eosinophilic infiltration in chronic myeloid leukemia].

Specific infiltrations in myelogenous leukemia are rare and occur mostly in the course of an acute blast crisis often representing the terminal phase of the disease. A 50 year-old female patient is described who developed specific cutaneous lesions during such a blast crisis. The infiltrates consisted to a major part of eosinophilic myelocytes although the peripheral blood smear showed only relatively few mature eosinophils.

Histological features of "pagetoid reticulosis" (Woringer-Kolopp) in pre-mycosis fungoides.

The case of a 66-year-old female with chronic skin lesions is described, which clinically resembled parakeratosis variegata but histologically showed the pattern of "pagetoid reticulosis" (Woringer-Kolopp). The intraepidermal pagetoid cells were lymphoid cells which, by electron microscopy, could be identified as small Sézary cells. The intraepidermal presence of numerous atypical reticulum cells does not support the theory of "pagetoid reticulosis" as a separate nosological entity, but rather stresses the epidermotropic character of (pre-)mycosis fungoides just known from intraepidermal Pautrier microabscesses.

[Delayed manifestation of Costa's acrokeratoelastosis].

Acrokeratoelastoidosis, first described in 1952 bei O.G. Costa, belongs to the group of diffuse palmoplantar keratoses without associated symptoms. Probably it is an autosomal dominant trait. We observed a 49 year old female who has noticed her typical skin lesions for 2 years. The most marked histological features are proliferative hyperkeratosis, an almost complete lack of the fine subepithelial elastic fibre network and a marked rarefication of the coarse elastic fibres in the dermis.

Acrodermatitis↗

[Diffuse normolipemic plane xanthomatosis].

The case of a diffuse plane normolipaemic xanthomatosis in a 74-year-old woman is reported which has developed since about 5 years. There was no sign of any disease of the reticulhistiocytic system. With regard to the prognosis the arterial hypertension is of particular interest.

[Clotting abnormalities in the Lyell's syndrome (acute toxic epidermal necrolysis) (author's transl)].

Acute toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell's syndrome) ended fatally in a 48-year-old patient with chronic recurrent bronchial pneumonia. A marked haemorrhagic diathesis had developed, with signs of severe clotting and platelet abnormalities, indicating that the clotting disorder was, in the first instance, the result of "toxic" liver and bone-marrow damage (in connection with the recurrent pneumonia and its previous drug treatment), and not disseminated intravascular coagulation. The clotting abnormalities in this patient were probably less the result of "necrolysis" of the epidermis than an accompanying effect of the generatized intoxication of multiple aetiologies of the entire organism, which probably also precipitated the fulminating course of the Lyell's syndrome. An important part, of course, was the preceding protracted administration of chloramphenicol for the recurrent bronchial pneumonia.
