[Varying results of different procedures for determining the FT4 concentration before and after the administration of contrast media].

After application of contrast media a rise in FT4 concentration was detected by use of the ultrafiltration method (Amicon) and the Dow-Lepetit method, especially after injection of Biliscopin, whereas the determination of FT4 concentration with the Amerlex method revealed a significant drop in FT4 concentration after contrast medium application. The results obtained with the Dow-Lepetit test have to be regarded as correct. The decrease detected by the Amerlex test is probably the result of a changed affinity of albumin to the labeled T4. Within 1 hr after application of contrast media blood for the determination of FT4 should not be collected.

Chemotherapy for tumours using clostridial oncolysis, antibiotics and cyclophosphamide: model trial on the UVT 15264 tumour.

Lysis of the UVT 15264 tumour in mice of the 17/Berlin-Buch strain as induced by intravenous injection of Clostridium butyricum H8 spores is followed by the tumour diameter and survival time. In animals thus treated, tumour regression is incomplete and the mean survival time drops below that of tumour-bearing animals not treated with spores. With concurrent antibiotic treatment survival time is prolonged to exceed that of untreated animals, without affecting ocolysis-provoked tumour regression. When spore is combined with cyclophosphamide, tumour regression is considerably improved, but the survival resembles that of untreated tumour-bearing animals; with both cyclophosphamide and antibiotic treatment survival resembles that of spore-treated animals.

[The in-vitro-effects of loxaglate (Hexabrix) on coagulation, fibrinolysis and complement system (author's transl)].

Ioxaglate causes a dose dependent prolongation of thrombin time, thrombin coagulase time, partial thromboplastin time and calcium thromboplastin time. A substantial activation of fibrinolysis, assayed by a dose dependent decrease of plasminogen concentrations, does not take place. Higher concentration of ioxaglate (more than 25 mg iodine/ml) cause a complement activation. No C-3 split products could be detected by two-dimensional immunoelectrophoresis. Ioxaglate induced changes of global coagulation tests are interpreted as being caused by interference of fibrin polymerization. The demonstration of complement activation by high concentrations of ioxaglate has no practical consequences.

Measurement of specific multiplication of an oncolytic and a nononcolytic strain of Clostridium butyricum inside the tumour UVT 15264 of the mouse.

Clostridium butyricum was recultivated from tumour material after treatment of tumour-bearing mice with spores and counted by soft agar colony technique. The oncolytic strain Cl. butyricum H8 grows inside the tumour UVT 15264 up to 8 X 10(8)/g during 48 h. In this time part of tumour became lysed. Multiplication inside of this tumour by the tumour specific but nononcolytic strain Cl. butyricum CNRZ 528 could not be detected by application counting technique. Combination of spore treatment with antibiotic chemotherapy in dosage able to prevent oncolysis or in dosage to reduce them corresponds with loss of clostridial multiplication or with reduced vegetative multiplication respectively.

[In vitro effect of Iopamidol on coagulation, fibrinolysis and complement system (author's transl)].

Experiments on the effect of iopamidol on coagulation, fibrinolysis and complement system by in vitro standard tests were undertaken. No effect on thrombin time and thrombincoagulase time were found in clinically relevant concentration range. In contrast to classical triiodinated contrast media indications of inhibition of fibrin polymerization could only be found at large doses of iopamidol. No generation of fibrinolytic split products as indication of activation of fibrinolysis were found. Crossed immunoelectrophoresis at different concentrations could not detect split products of the complement protein C3.
