The bicuspid nature of the valves of the peripheral collecting lymphatic vessels of the dog.

A controversy presently exists about the structure of lymphatic valves, the bicuspid structure vs. the funnel-like architechture. This present study, along with a review of the literature was undertaken in an attempt to clarify this controversy. Twenty lymphatic valves from the collecting lymphatic channels draining the back paw region in four dogs were examined and several were photographed. The bicuspid nature and the three dimensional anatomy of these valves is clearly demonstrated.

[Lymphatic vessels in the uterus of aging nulliparous and multiparous mice].

The morphological changes in the uterine lymphatics in aging nulliparous and multiparous mice, as shown by the application of dyestuffs (patient blue violet and Japan ink) are described, and their appearance corresponds to that described in earlier papiers by Fabian (1976, 1977, 1978). It is apparent on the basis of these findings that with the cessation of the sexual cycle, the previous regularly repeated morphological changes in the mouses uterus move into another stage, and associated with this the lymphatics inevitably take part in the aging process. According to Lindner (1975) this is essentially a dynamic process, rather than one which is purely passive, dengerative or involutional.

[Use of Polish synthetic latex LBS 3041 for anatomical studies of blood and lymphatic vessels].

The Polish synthetic latex LBS 3041 produced in Chemical Works "Oświecim" was examined for anatomical purposes. The latex was stained with pigments "Vulkan", pasts of general use "Pastokol" and commercial pigments to emulsive dyes. There was established a much better penetration into small blood vessels by latex LBS 3041 than by latex LBS 3060. On the account of the resistance of the examined latex to the coagulating activity of acetic acid, the hardening of the stuff after the injection of the specimens occurs through the cooling of preparations in the refrigerator.
