GLP-1 Receptor Agonists and Musculoskeletal Outcomes: A Systematic Literature Review and Meta-Analysis.

INTRODUCTION: Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) are increasingly used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and obesity, but their effects on musculoskeletal health remain completely misunderstood. OBJECTIVE: This systematic review/meta-analysis aims to synthesise clinical data on the effects of GLP-1 RAs on key relevant bone, muscle, and joint outcomes. METHODS: MEDLINE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL) (both via Ovid&#xae; platform) and Embase were searched from inception to March 2025 to identify relevant randomised controlled trials (RCTs) or real-world evidence (RWE) studies to be included. This bibliographic search was completed manually. A random-effect model meta-analysis was performed for any outcome reported in at least 2 studies. Subgroup analyses were performed on the type of GLP-1 RAs, type of comparator used and study design. Sensitivity analyses (i.e., leave-out sensitivity analyses and analyses restricted to the most adjusted effect estimate) were performed to test the robustness of the data. The strength of evidence was assessed using GRADE. This work has been performed in adherence with PRISMA statement. (PROSPERO Record ID: CRD420251024082). RESULTS: From 1148 potentially relevant references, 60 articles (46 RCTs, 13 RWE studies and 1 pharmacovigilance study, comprising 1,250,717 individuals) met our inclusion criteria. Different GLP-1 RAs were represented across the panel of studies, i.e., semaglutide, liraglutide, exenatide, dulaglutide, tirzepatide (dual agonist gastric inhibitory polypeptide [GIP]/GLP-1) and others. No effect on bone outcomes (i.e., bone mineral density [all sites] and fractures [all sites]) were observed when the meta-analytical models included the most adjusted effect size. Regarding muscle outcomes, a significant decrease of lean body mass/fat-free mass was consistently observed with GLP-1 RAs in the global model (k = 28, standardised mean difference [SMD] 0.52, 95% confidence interval [CI] -0.8; -0.23, I2 88%, p-value for heterogeneity <0.0001), which remained robust in all sensitivity analyses. Subgroup analyses showed that the effect was mainly driven by liraglutide and semaglutide, with a decrease in lean body mass/fat-free mass observed when GLP-1 RAs were compared with placebo. No publication bias was found. Regarding joint outcome, models revealed no significant change in The Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) pain, physical function and stiffness. CONCLUSIONS: This meta-analysis is the first to investigate the effects of GLP-1 RAs on a large panel of musculoskeletal health outcomes. While no significant effects were observed on bone- or joint-related outcomes, GLP-1 RAs were associated with reductions in lean body mass/fat-free mass, although the certainty of evidence was low and these changes appeared largely related to weight loss. Whether these changes translate into clinically meaningful impairments in muscle function or physical performance remains uncertain. Further studies in this field, including those looking at muscle function, strength or performance and using multivariate models considering confounding are needed to better reinforce the models and final findings.

Determinants of Nonspecific Response to Treatment in Randomized Controlled Trials of Major Depressive Disorder: A Narrative Review.

The design, conduct, and interpretation of double-blind randomized placebo-controlled clinical trials in major depressive disorder (MDD) are complicated by determinants of nonspecific response to treatment (NSRT). This narrative review provides a comprehensive overview of the determinants of NSRT in randomized controlled trials (RCTs) for MDD, including the placebo effect, factors related to measurement of the primary endpoint, the inclusion of misdiagnosed patients, the relapsing-remitting course of MDD, and factors related to functional unblinding. Potential strategies to reduce the impact of the determinants of NSRT and to improve the interpretation of RCT outcomes in MDD are also summarized. These strategies include use of centralized rating and standardized rater training, independent diagnostic confirmation, optimized site selection, minimizing financial incentives, exclusion of subjects participating in multiple clinical trials, exclusion of patients with unstable major depressive episode trajectories, and use of active placebo and alternative trial designs. Uniformity among experts in the definitions of determinants of NSRT and related concepts, as well as in strategies to address them, may facilitate progress in the development of novel treatments for MDD.

Microplastic contamination in South Asian commercially important seafood: A comprehensive assessment of occurrence, source, and human health risk.

Seafood is a cornerstone of global food security and human nutrition, serving as the primary source of animal protein for more than one-fourth of the global population, with South Asia representing one of the world's fastest-growing seafood-consuming regions. However, escalating microplastic (MP) pollution in marine ecosystems poses an emerging threat to seafood safety and human health, yet a comprehensive regional assessment of MP contamination in South Asian seafood remains lacking. This study presents the first region-wide systematic synthesis of the literature on MP contamination in commercially important seafood across South Asia, integrating occurrence patterns, human exposure assessment, polymer-specific hazard evaluation, and bibliometric analysis to address this critical knowledge gap. The meta-analysis estimated an average microplastic exposure of 145&#xa0;particles/person/day through seafood consumption in South Asia, with fish contributing the highest intake (121 particles/person/day). The detected polymers were classified into PHI hazard levels I-IV, with polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyurethane (PU), and polyacrylamide (PAM) representing the highest hazard categories. The mean pollution load index (PLI) was 7.71 (Category I), with crustaceans exhibiting the highest contamination (PLI&#xa0;=&#xa0;10.07). Polypropylene was the predominant polymer, whereas fragments and blue particles were the most frequently reported microplastic characteristics. These findings provide the first regional baseline for assessing microplastic contamination, polymer-associated hazards, and human exposure through seafood consumption in South Asia, underscoring the need for standardized monitoring and targeted mitigation strategies to safeguard seafood safety and public health.

Viral surveillance beyond detection: JMTV and the need for ensemble approaches in emerging virus discovery.

The recent report by T. Murillo, L. E. Enrique Chaves-Gonz&#xe1;lez, S. Temmam, S. Berm&#xfa;dez, et al. (Microbiol Spectr 14:e04078-25, 2026, https://doi.org/10.1128/spectrum.04078-25) expands the known geographic and ecological range of Jingmen tick virus (JMTV) by detecting the virus in Amblyomma mixtum ticks collected from horses in Costa Rica. This is an important finding because A. mixtum can feed on wildlife, domestic animals, and humans, creating a possible interface for virus movement across various hosts. The study also places the Costa Rican virus in a wider phylogenetic context, linking it to JMTV diversity reported from other regions. However, the detection of viral RNA in ticks should not be interpreted as proof of local disease, human infection, or active transmission, especially in the absence of supporting results. Instead, it reflects an important signal for careful viral surveillance. Here, I discuss how JMTV illustrates the need for ensemble approaches that combine field sampling, phylogeny, segment-level genome analysis, serology, experimental validation, and data-driven virus discovery tools.

Hypothalamic-Pituitary Axis Involvement in Primary Central Nervous System Lymphoma.

CONTEXT: Primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) is a rare malignancy that may involve the hypothalamic-pituitary axis (HPA), leading to underrecognized but clinically significant endocrine dysfunction. OBJECTIVE: This work aims to characterize the spectrum and patterns of HPA-related endocrine disturbances in patients with PCNSL. DATA SOURCES: A systematic search was conducted in PubMed, EMBASE, Scopus, and Web of Science, supplemented by gray literature. The search concluded in February 2025. STUDY SELECTION: We included studies reporting adult PCNSL cases with documented dysfunction of at least one hormonal axis. Exclusion criteria were preexisting hypopituitarism or lack of endocrine data. DATA EXTRACTION: Data on demographics, tumor localization, hormonal axes affected, radiological findings, treatment, and outcomes were extracted. Risk of bias was assessed using JBI tools. RESULTS: Ninety-nine cases met the inclusion criteria. Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma accounted for 84% of cases. Endocrine dysfunction included isolated adenohypophyseal involvement (46%), neurohypophyseal (8%), and combined (45%). The most affected pituitary axes were the gonadal and thyroid axes, with 89.7% and 89.2% involvement, respectively. Hypothalamic tumors were strongly associated with combined dysfunction (odds ratio = 9.47; 95% CI, 3.76-23.86; P < .001). Persistent endocrinopathy was more frequent in progressive disease. No direct association was found between endocrine dysfunction and mortality. CONCLUSION: HPA dysfunction in PCNSL is frequent and often underdiagnosed. Hypothalamic involvement is associated broader hormonal impairment. Routine hormonal screening and multidisciplinary management should be standard in PCNSL care to minimize complications and improve outcomes.

School-based sexual violence prevention: A systematic review.

PURPOSE: Sexual violence profoundly affects the health and development of children, adolescents, and young adults, representing a persistent challenge to public policy. This systematic review examined the effectiveness of school-based interventions aimed at prevention. METHODS: Eighteen randomized controlled trials published between 2012 and 2024 were retrieved from four major databases. The programs were implemented in primary, secondary, and higher education settings and targeted children, adolescents, and young adults. RESULTS: The results revealed improvements in knowledge and attitude, particularly regarding consent and awareness, whereas evidence supporting behavioral changes was less frequent and often limited. Methodological limitations, such as short follow-up periods and participant attrition, restricted the assessment of long-term outcomes. CONCLUSIONS: This review highlights the importance of multicomponent, participatory, and culturally sensitive approaches, along with the integration of digital tools and continuous evaluation systems, to strengthen the role of schools as safe and transformative spaces in the prevention of sexual violence. IMPLICATIONS AND CONTRIBUTIONS: This systematic review suggests that school-based interventions hold significant potential for the prevention of sexual violence. It identifies promising strategies and reinforces the importance of culturally sensitive, sustained, evidence-based approaches to ensure learning environments that are safe, protective, and promotive of gender equity.

Pilot randomized trial of intermittent theta-burst stimulation versus H-Coil transcranial magnetic stimulation for treatment-resistant depression.

BACKGROUND: Intermittent theta burst stimulation (figure-8-coil iTBS) and H7-coil repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) are FDA-cleared treatments for major depression; yet their comparative effectiveness in treatment-resistant depression (TRD) has not been evaluated in randomized trials. This pilot randomized trial was designed to obtain preliminary comparative estimates and to explore whether baseline cognitive functioning relates to early remission. METHODS: Twenty-eight adults with TRD were randomized to six weeks of figure-8-coil iTBS delivered to the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) (n = 15) or H7-coil rTMS delivered to the dorsomedial prefrontal cortex (DMPFC) (n = 13). The primary outcome was change in 17-item Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HRSD-17) score from baseline to week 6, analyzed with ANCOVA. Additional outcomes included response, remission, and symptom trajectories through week 18. Exploratory analyses examined the association between baseline cognitive functioning, such as executive functions and memory, and remission. RESULTS: Twenty-five participants completed all 30 sessions. Adjusted week-6 HRSD-17 scores did not differ between groups (mean difference -0.40, 95% CI -5.23 to 4.43; p=.865). Response rates were 40.0% for figure-8-coil iTBS and 50.0% for H7-coil rTMS (p>.60), and remission rates were identical across groups (20.0%). Remitters showed higher baseline executive functioning than non-remitters in exploratory analyses, although these associations were not confirmed in adjusted models. CONCLUSION: In this pilot trial, figure-8-coil iTBS and H7-coil rTMS showed symptom improvement, with no clear between-group differences. Exploratory findings suggest a potential signal involving executive functioning that warrants further investigation. These results inform the feasibility and design of larger comparative trials. Hilar lymph node involvement in pediatric liver cancer and its impact on outcomes: A systematic review.

UNLABELLED: Management of liver tumors in children is well-defined, with clear treatment protocols established by organizations such as the International Society of Pediatric Oncology-Liver group (SIOPEL), the Children's Oncology Group (COG), and the Japanese Study Group for Pediatric Liver Tumors (JPLT). However, no structured approach exists for hilar lymph node (LN) resection. Surgical practices vary among centers, reflecting the adult setting. This systematic review aims to examine the current evidence on hilar lymphadenectomy in pediatric patients with primary liver tumors and to assess LN positivity rates and their associations with recurrence and survival. METHODS: A structured literature search was conducted on MEDLINE, Embase, and Web of Science (2004-January 2025) using keywords: lymph node, hepatoblastoma, hepatocellular carcinoma, and liver tumor. Patients under 21 years were included. The study protocol was registered on PROSPERO (CRD42024501895), and Rayyan software supported screening and review. RESULTS: Eight studies (880 patients) were included. Diagnoses were hepatoblastoma (HB, n&#x202f;=&#x202f;277), hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC, n&#x202f;=&#x202f;507), and other tumors (n&#x202f;=&#x202f;96). LN dissection details were available for 431 patients: 349 (80.9%) had no metastases. In the HB group, 43% underwent hilar LN dissection with 0% positivity. In HCC, 33.6% had positive nodes. In other tumors, 7.8% showed LN involvement. Data on survival impact were limited. CONCLUSIONS: In HB, routine LN dissection may be unnecessary due to universally negative nodes. For HCC, the one-in-three positivity rate supports further evaluation of lymphadenectomy. Evidence remains limited for other tumors. Prospective multicenter studies using standardized protocols are needed to define the role of LN evaluation beyond HB.

Transcriptomic changes in the gut mucosa of fasting northern elephant seal pups reveal immune modulation during early microbiome establishment.

Fasting is an integral component of the life-history of many species. Following abrupt weaning, northern elephant seal pups (Mirounga angustirostris) undergo an extended post-weaning fast of approximately 60&#xa0;days. During this period, enteric bacterial diversity increases, suggesting that host immune regulation may facilitate the establishment of microbial communities. However, the molecular processes occurring within the intestinal mucosa during this transition remain poorly understood. To investigate these mechanisms, we characterized transcriptional changes in the enteric mucosa of male and female northern elephant seal pups sampled at weaning and after one month of fasting. Total RNA isolated from rectal swabs was sequenced and aligned to the Mirounga angustirostris reference genome. Differential gene expression and gene set enrichment analyses were used to identify genes and pathways associated with fasting and sex-specific responses. Fasting was accompanied primarily by transcriptional downregulation, including genes involved in antimicrobial defense, inflammation, protein turnover, and epithelial remodeling. In contrast, several genes associated with B-cell activity and immune recognition were upregulated. Gene Set Enrichment Analysis revealed coordinated activation of immune-regulatory pathways indicating dynamic modulation of intestinal immunity rather than generalized immune suppression. Pronounced sex-specific differences were also observed. Male pups exhibited transcriptional patterns consistent with enhanced immune tolerance, whereas females showed broader immune-pathway activation, including enrichment of pro-inflammatory and stress-response pathways. Several non-coding RNAs also displayed sex-specific changes in expression. Together, these findings suggest that fasting induces transcriptional remodeling of the gut and may contribute to immune regulation during a critical period of microbiome establishment in northern elephant seal pups.

Specialized pro-resolving mediator (SPM)-enriched supplementation modulates inflammatory biomarkers in patients with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis: Blood plasma analysis from the GAUDI study.

BACKGROUND: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a leading cause of chronic pain and functional impairment, associated with persistent inflammation, potentially due to impaired resolution. Specialized pro-resolving lipid mediators (SPMs) regulate inflammation resolution and restore homeostasis. The GAUDI study previously demonstrated that SPM supplementation reduces pain and improves quality of life (QoL) in patients with knee OA. This analysis assesses the impact of SPM supplementation on inflammatory biomarkers (IB) and SPM levels and their relationship with clinical outcomes. METHODS: This is a secondary analysis of the GAUDI trial, a randomized, multicenter, double-blind, placebo-controlled study conducted in Spain in adults with symptomatic knee OA who received daily supplementation with SPMs or placebo for 12 weeks. Endpoints included changes in plasma IB and SPM levels and their correlation with clinical outcomes. RESULTS: Changes in IL-1 (15.9 vs. -1.1 pg/ml, p-value: 0.051) and IL-18 (10.3 vs. -1.4 pg/ml, p-value: 0.29) showed a tendency toward reduction in the SPM group compared to the placebo group. Changes in IL-1 and IL-8 positively correlated (r = 0.707, p-value: 0.005 and r = 0.551, p-value: 0.04; respectively) with changes in WOMAC score and negatively correlated (r = -0.797, p-value <0.001 and r = -0.804, p-value <0.001; respectively) with changes in EuroQoL-5 VAS score. Changes in IL-1 (r = 0.554, p-value: 0.048) and IL-6 (r = 0.631, p-value: 0.014 and r = 0.572, p-value: 0.031) correlated with changes in OMERACT-OARSI pain score. No significant differences in IB levels were observed between groups during the intervention. Minor changes in SPM levels point to metabolic pathways at work with SPM supplementation. In patients with a BMI &#x2265;25 kg/m&#xb2;, most IB tended to decrease following SPM consumption. CONCLUSIONS: This analysis suggests a potential association between SPM supplementation, decreased inflammation, and improved pain and QoL in patients with knee OA. Subtle changes in blood plasma SPM levels were detected that indicate, through bioinformatics analysis, a pathway-specific metabolome activation induced by SPM supplementation. A chromosome-level, haplotype-resolved genome assembly for the barn owl, Tyto alba.

Recent advances in long-read sequencing have enabled near telomere-to-telomere (T2T) assemblies across diverse taxa. However, avian genomes remain challenging due to numerous microchromosomes, small, typically < 20Mb, DNA molecules that are gene-, GC-, and repeat-rich. As a consequence, microchromosomes are often missing from genome assemblies. Here, we present a chromosome-level, haplotype-resolved genome assembly for the Western barn owl (Tyto alba). Using a trio-binning strategy with Illumina parental reads combined with PacBio HiFi and Oxford Nanopore Technologies data, we generated two phased contig sets. These were scaffolded into 40 linkage groups using a linkage map. Comparative analyses identified unplaced HiFi scaffolds corresponding to microchromosomes, which we integrated into six additional microchromosomes using long reads information. The two assemblies present 46 chromosomes, matching the karyotype of the species. They exhibit strong synteny between parental haplotypes, except for a &#x223c;38 Mb complex region on chromosome 7 containing nested inversions. This high-quality reference provides a haplotype-resolved and chromosome-level genome for Strigiformes, enabling fine-scale studies of structural variation and avian genome evolution.

New Evidence in Heart Failure: 2026 Update.

Heart failure (HF) remains a major cause of morbidity, mortality, impaired quality of life and healthcare expenditure worldwide. The global burden of HF continues to increase due to population aging, improved survival, and the growing prevalence of cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic comorbidities. Simultaneously, the pace of scientific progress in HF has accelerated considerably. Recent advances have refined our understanding of HF epidemiology, prognosis, and disease trajectories, including emerging concepts of HF improvement, remission, and recovery. The Second Universal Definition of HF has also updated the classification framework, moving beyond the traditional ejection fraction-based categories. HF is now broadly classified into two major phenotypes: heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). Novel mechanistic insights highlight the role of inflammation, immune activation, metabolic dysfunction, mitochondrial biology, and multisystem interactions in HF progression. There has also been significant progress in the characterization and management of major comorbidities, including chronic kidney disease (CKD), diabetes, obesity, atrial fibrillation (AF), pulmonary hypertension, frailty, malnutrition, and cancer. Diagnostic innovations include novel biomarkers, multi-omics technologies, artificial intelligence-based approaches, advanced imaging techniques, congestion assessment tools, and emerging digital health solutions. Important advances have occurred in specific HF aetiologies, including cardiomyopathies, cardiac amyloidosis (CA), myocarditis, arrhythmia-induced cardiomyopathy (AiCM), and Chagas cardiomyopathy. Therapeutic developments continue to reshape HF management across the spectrum of left ventricular ejection fraction. Recent evidence has focused on optimization of guideline-directed medical therapy in HFrEF, expansion of evidence-based therapies in HFpEF, and growing roles for sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors, finerenone, incretin-based therapies, and transcatheter valve interventions. Collectively, these advances support the transition from a predominantly phenotype-based approach towards a more personalized and biologically informed model of HF care, with the potential to further improve outcomes across the entire HF spectrum.

Olive leaf protein hydrolysates yield gastro-resistant peptides with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory potential: peptidomics, in vitro validation and molecular docking analyses.

Olive (Olea europaea L.) leaves are an abundant olive-oil by-product and a promising feedstock for sustainable valorisation. An olive leaf protein isolate (OLPI) from olive-leaf powder (OLP) was enzymatically hydrolysed to yield seven hydrolysates (OLPHs). All showed notable antioxidant activity as whole hydrolysate matrices (EC&#x2085;&#x2080;&#xa0;=&#xa0;0.11-0.28&#xa0;mg&#xa0;mL-1); likely reflecting the combined contribution of released peptides and co-extracted phenolic compounds; the 15-min Alcalase product (OLPH15A) showed high activity with the shortest processing time. Its INFOGEST digest (dOLPH15A) attenuated LPS-induced inflammation in Caco-2 cells, down-regulating pro-inflammatory and up-regulating anti-inflammatory genes. Peptidomics identified 7037 peptides in OLPH15A and 534 in dOLPH15A, from which twenty gastro-resistant sequences were prioritised for in silico analysis. Multi-tool prediction and docking highlighted four peptides, GAAGGIGQPL, QSAYPGTGPL, GGGAGGGDGGIL and LDAQFPGVN, with favourable predicted affinity for the TLR4/MD2 complex, suggesting that they may contribute to the observed immunomodulatory response. These findings position olive leaves as a viable source of protein hydrolysate-based ingredients with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory potential, advancing the valorisation of olive-oil by-products.

Comparison of VCV and PCV-VG modes on diaphragmatic function in diabetic patients undergoing laparoscopic colorectal surgery: a prospective randomized controlled study.

BACKGROUND: Diabetic patients are prone to induce diaphragmatic weakness, which can lead to postoperative pulmonary complications (PPCs). The optimal mechanical ventilation mode may potentially improve postoperative diaphragmatic function. This study evaluates the effects of two ventilation modes under driving pressure-guided ventilation strategy on diaphragmatic function, as assessed by diaphragm thickening fraction (DTF) and diaphragm excursion (DE), in diabetic patients following laparoscopic colorectal surgery. METHODS: Eighty patients diagnosed with Type II diabetes scheduled for elective laparoscopic colorectal surgery, were randomly allocated to either the pressure-controlled volume-guaranteed ventilation (PCV-VG) group (Group P) or the volume-controlled ventilation (VCV) group (Group V) during surgery. The primary outcome was diaphragmatic function assessed during both tidal breathing and maximal inspiratory effort after surgery. Secondary outcomes included intraoperative mechanical power, PPCs, and other complications. RESULTS: A total of eighty patients were included in the final analysis. The averaged area under the curve (AUC) for mechanical power during ventilation was significantly lower in Group P than in Group V (p&#x2009;=&#x2009;0.002). PCV-VG significantly improved both DE and DTF within the first two days post-surgery (AUCDEtidal: p&#x2009;=&#x2009;0.088, AUCDTFtidal: p&#x2009;=&#x2009;0.004, AUCDEmax: p&#x2009;=&#x2009;0.029, AUCDTFmax: p&#x2009;=&#x2009;0.017). Postoperative diaphragmatic weakness was less frequent in Group P than in Group V (p&#x2009;=&#x2009;0.019). However, there was no difference in the incidence of PPCs between the two groups (p&#x2009;=&#x2009;0.155). CONCLUSION: PCV-VG mode can reduce intraoperative mechanical power, better preserve postoperative diaphragmatic function. However, these improvements did not translate into clinical benefits, as evidenced by the lack of reduction in the incidence of PPCs.

OBJECTIVES: Coping, emotional and cognitive processes are crucial in child development, particularly in children with pediatric chronic physical conditions (CPC). No systematic review in pediatric psychology has investigated the effectiveness of interventions on these processes concurrently. This review addresses this gap by focusing on the effectiveness of psychological interventions on coping, emotional and cognitive processes in children with CPCs. METHODS: Five electronic databases were searched for studies assessing at least one of these processes. Only randomized-controlled trials with children (8-12&#x2009;years) with a CPC (e.g. diabetes, asthma), which implemented a psychological intervention were included. This study is registered in (CRD42021233505). RESULTS: Ten intervention studies were identified. While cognitive interventions (Cogmed) showed some improvements in working memory, the effects varied across studies despite similar methodologies. Coping interventions (e.g. Coping Skills Training) showed little effect on coping strategies or psychological health variables and were no more beneficial than control groups. No study trained coping, emotional processes and cognitive processes together. CONCLUSION: This review shows current limitations in evaluating psychological interventions targeting coping, cognitive or emotional processes in children with CPCs, limiting a comprehensive understanding of the interventions' action mechanisms. Systematically including underlying processes in intervention studies could help to better adjust those interventions.
