Association Between Statin Use and Dry Eye Disease: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

TOPIC: This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the literature-pooled association between statins and dry eye disease (DED). CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Statins, a common treatment modality for dyslipidemia, have been proposed as a potential contributor to DED via their activity in meibomian gland epithelial cells. However, single studies show mixed evidence, and there remains an unmet clinical need to clarify whether statin exposure is associated with DED. METHODS: This review was reported in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews of Interventions (PRISMA) 2020 statement and was registered a priori on PROSPERO (CRD420251238004). Ovid MEDLINE, Embase, CINAHL, Web of Science, CENTRAL, and the reference lists of relevant reviews were searched from inception to November 2025 for studies reporting the association between statin use and DED. Random-effects meta-analysis using inverse-variance weighting was conducted to pool effect estimates as odds ratios with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Study risk of bias was appraised using the ROBINS-E tool, and the certainty of the evidence was reported using the GRADE framework. RESULTS: Six observational studies were included in the meta-analysis (n = 560,821; 356,012/559,141 [63.7%] statin users). The pooled analysis revealed a significant positive association between statins and DED (odds ratio 1.09, 95% CI 1.05-1.13, P < .001), with an absolute risk difference of 10.2 more DED cases per 1000 (95% CI 5.5 more to 15.2 more). This result was derived from very low-certainty evidence given limitations in study design and serious inconsistency. Subgroup and sensitivity analyses for risk of bias (P = .123), method of outcome ascertainment (P = .737), type of effect estimate (P = .496), and leave-one-out analyses showed no evidence of effect modification and demonstrated consistent direction of association across studies. CONCLUSION: Statin use was associated with a small but statistically significant increase in DED, limited by very low-certainty evidence. Physicians should monitor for and educate patients on ocular surface symptoms in patients using statins with pre-existing DED risk factors. Future studies should use standardized DED diagnostic criteria to investigate the impact of statin dose, type, and duration to better characterize this potential association.

Safety Profile of the Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drug Celecoxib in the Short-Term Management of Acute Non-cancer Pain: A Systematic Review with Meta-analysis of Randomised Controlled Trials.

OBJECTIVE: To summarise the literature regarding the safety of short-term use of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) celecoxib. STUDY DESIGN: Systematic review with meta-analysis of randomised trials. Participants comprised individuals of all ages with acute non-cancer pain. Interventions included celecoxib at 200-400 mg/day for up to 10 days. The comparators were placebo, other NSAIDs (including cyclooxygenase-2 [COX-2] inhibitors and non-selective NSAIDS [nsNSAIDS]), or opioids. DATA SOURCES: Five databases were searched from inception to April 2025: Embase, Web of Science, MEDLINE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, and Scopus. Additionally, a registry was searched: ClinicalTrials.gov. DATA SYNTHESIS: Meta-analyses using Mantel-Haenszel and random-effects model were used to calculate risk ratios (RRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for severe cardiovascular, respiratory, and gastrointestinal adverse events and secondary outcomes. The Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool for randomised trials (RoB-2) was used to assess bias risk. The Grading of Recommendation Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) was conducted to assess the certainty of evidence of each reported outcome. RESULTS: Title/abstract and full text screening comprised 3976 and 273 studies, respectively. Fifty studies were included with 10,693 participants. The RRs for adverse events were no different between celecoxib and placebo for severe events (3 studies) (RR 0.44 [95% CI 0.10-2.03]), cardiovascular (3 studies) (RR 0.84 [95% CI 0.24-2.92]), respiratory (4 studies) (RR 1.23 [95% CI 0.29-5.26]), and gastrointestinal events (33 studies) (RR 0.96 [95% CI 0.64-1.43]). There was no difference between celecoxib and NSAIDS for gastrointestinal adverse events, RR 0.89 (95% CI 0.68-1.17). Celecoxib had a lower risk compared to opioids for gastrointestinal events, RR 0.34 (95% CI 0.14-0.86), and showed a lower risk of nausea compared with placebo, RR 0.75 (95% CI 0.60-0.93), and nsNSAIDS, RR 0.80 (95% CI 0.64-0.99). Most studies had some risk of bias concerns, and the overall certainty of evidence for most outcomes was very low. Celecoxib appears to be safe for acute non-cancer pain when compared to placebo, NSAIDS, and opioids. It had a lower risk compared to opioids for gastrointestinal adverse events in general, nausea and vomiting, as well as a lower risk for nausea adverse events when compared to placebo and nsNSAIDS. Corticosteroids as adjunctive therapy to standard treatment in Kawasaki disease: a GRADE-assessed systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.

UNLABELLED: Kawasaki disease (KD) is an acute systemic vasculitis and the leading cause of acquired heart disease in children in developed countries. While IVIG plus aspirin remains standard treatment, 10-20% of patients are IVIG-resistant and face an elevated risk of coronary artery abnormalities. Corticosteroids have been explored as adjunctive therapy, though evidence on their benefit remains inconsistent. To assess the efficacy and safety of adjunctive corticosteroids in Kawasaki disease across key clinical outcomes. This PRISMA 2020-compliant systematic review and meta-analysis included RCTs identified through database searches up to April 2026. Risk of bias was assessed using Cochrane RoB 2.0. Data were pooled using random-effects models to estimate risk ratios (RRs) and mean differences (MDs) with 95% CIs. Subgroup analyses, leave-one-out sensitivity analyses, and GRADE certainty appraisal were also performed. Eight studies (n = 4106) were included. No significant differences were found in coronary artery abnormalities (CAA) within 1 month (RR 0.49, 95% CI 0.17-1.42), after 1 month (RR 0.81, 95% CI 0.43-1.55), fever duration (MD - 1.75, 95% CI - 3.71 to 0.21), or adverse events (RR 1.08, 95% CI 0.57-2.07). Hospital stay was modestly shorter with corticosteroids (MD - 0.99, 95% CI - 1.86 to - 0.11). Exploratory subgroup analyses suggested potential benefits with prednisolone-based and prolonged corticosteroid regimens for selected outcomes; however, these findings should be interpreted cautiously given multiple subgroup comparisons. Overall certainty of evidence was very low. CONCLUSION: Adjunctive corticosteroids did not significantly improve major outcomes in KD. Prednisolone-based regimens showed some promise, but high-quality trials are still needed before any firm conclusions can be drawn. WHAT IS KNOWN: • Corticosteroids have been studied as adjunctive therapy for Kawasaki disease, but their effects on coronary outcomes and other clinical outcomes remain inconsistent. WHAT IS NEW: • This meta-analysis found no significant improvement in major outcomes with adjunctive corticosteroids, although prednisolone-based and prolonged regimens may provide benefits for selected outcomes.

Efficacy and safety of Janus kinase inhibitors in Behçet's disease: A systematic literature review.

INTRODUCTION: Behçet's disease e (BD) is a chronic, relapsing, multisystem inflammatory disorder that if not successfully treated can lead to severe, organ or life-threatening complications. Despite treatment with glucocorticoids, immunosuppressants, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitors, some patients still have refractory disease that mandates additional therapeutic options. The pathogenesis of BD involves dysregulated innate and adaptive immune responses with multiple cytokines signaling through the Janus kinase (JAK)-signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) pathway. By targeting multiple inflammatory pathways, JAK inhibitors have emerged as a promising therapeutic option. However, current evidence remains limited and heterogeneous. Therefore, we conducted this systematic review to evaluate their efficacy and safety in BD. METHODS: We conducted a systematic literature review in accordance with PRISMA 2020 guidelines (PROSPERO registration: CRD420261381955). PubMed/MEDLINE, Embase, Scopus, and Web of Science were searched from inception to March 2026. Original clinical studies evaluating Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitors in BD were included. Two reviewers independently performed study selection, data extraction, and quality assessment using Joanna Briggs Institute tools. Due to heterogeneity, results were synthesized narratively, focusing on efficacy and safety outcomes. RESULTS: Seventeen studies (99 patients) were included, predominantly case reports and small observational cohorts with overall high methodological quality. All evaluated tofacitinib, baricitinib, or upadacitinib, with no data on other JAK inhibitors. Patients were highly treatment-refractory, with prior failure of conventional and biologic therapies. Upadacitinib was the most frequently studied agent and demonstrated an overall response rate of 85.2% and complete remission in 59.3% in a multi-center study. Efficacy was observed across multiple domains, with the most consistent responses in intestinal disease, including clinical and endoscopic remission, alongside frequent glucocorticoid-sparing effects. Safety findings were consistent with known JAK inhibitor safety profiles, with mainly mild to moderate infections and manageable laboratory abnormalities, and no clear signal for increased thrombotic events, although follow-up was limited. CONCLUSION: JAK inhibitors demonstrate promising efficacy in BD, particularly in refractory and multisystem disease. The most consistent evidence of efficacy was observed in gastrointestinal involvement, whereas data for other disease domains remain limited. Their safety profile appears consistent with existing data, although further follow up and validation is required. High-quality randomized controlled studies are an imminent need to study the potential role of JAK inhibitors in BD.

GATA2 deficiency: enhancer deregulation, immune surveillance failure, and clonal evolution.

Germline mutations in GATA2 cause a syndromic inborn error of immunity characterized by cytopenia, infections, immune dysregulation, and a marked predisposition to myelodysplastic syndrome and acute myeloid leukemia. Initially defined by the DCML phenotype-dendritic cell, monocyte, B- and NK-cell deficiency-GATA2 deficiency is now recognized as a disorder of global immune-hematopoietic homeostasis. Recent multi-omics and experimental models reveal enhancer-driven inflammatory rewiring, IRF8-dependent lineage imbalance, and premature hematopoietic aging. In parallel, adaptive immune defects, including impaired B- and T-cell development and function, contribute to defective immune surveillance. These alterations not only explain susceptibility to infection but also shape clonal evolution and malignant transformation. Clinically, improved risk stratification and transplant outcomes underscore the importance of early recognition and monitoring of immune dysfunction. GATA2 deficiency thus represents a paradigm linking immune dysregulation, inflammatory stress, and cancer predisposition.

Non-linear predictive modeling and comprehensive meta-analysis of rectal temperature in Santa Inês sheep: a systematic review of thermal challenges and biometerological trends.

A systematic and bibliometric review, combined with a meta-analysis, was used to adjust an equation for estimating the physiological responses of Santa Inês sheep subjected to different thermal challenges. The systematic review compiled data on physiological responses and the thermal environment, which were then used in the meta-analysis to adjust regression models. The bibliometric analysis mapped the relationships among studies, highlighting their usefulness in interpreting research findings and biases. Addressing prior methodological critiques, the core of this study involves replacing the linear approach with a non-linear segmented regression model to accurately define the Thermal Neutral Zone (TNZ). The Segmented Regression Model was crucial, establishing the upper limit of the Thermal Neutral Zone (TNZ) at an air temperature (tair) of 34.64 °C, where trectal begins to increase abruptly. The model, while identifying a biologically significant breakpoint, exhibited a moderate Multiple R-squared of 0.3529, highlighting the high heterogeneity and methodological variability in the current Santa Inês literature. This non-linear approach offers a biologically superior tool for identifying the onset of thermal distress.

Long-Term Survey to Assess Recurrence and Complications of Surgically Treated Pleomorphic Adenoma.

OBJECTIVE(S): To (1) report on the long-term recurrence rate of surgically managed pleomorphic adenoma (PA) and (2) assess long-term surgical outcomes after parotidectomyMethods:Cross-sectional survey of all patients with a pathologic diagnosis of PA who underwent surgical management in a tertiary care center from 01/1997 to 12/2023 and had access to an electronic patient portal. Surveys were delivered via electronic patient portal or phone call with 6 questions to assess recurrence and long-term surgical outcomes. Time to first recurrence and recurrence free survival were analyzed using a Kaplan-Meier curve. RESULTS: Seven hundred-forty-five patients met inclusion criteria and received the survey, with a 56% response rate (n = 420). The clinical median follow-up length was 51 days, which extended to a median length of 6.2 years following the survey. The median change in follow-up length was 5.37 years (P < .001). The recurrence rate was 1% at 5 years, with a median time to first recurrence of 7.54 years. 13% and 9% of responders reported facial asymmetry and incisional cosmetic concerns, respectively. 33% of patients reported experiencing Frey syndrome, which increased from 5.2% of survey responders with documented Frey syndrome at their original post-operative assessment. CONCLUSION: Long-term assessment of PA outcomes confirms low recurrence rates, suggesting regular surveillance of recurrence is likely unnecessary. Complaints of Frey syndrome increased in frequency with longer term follow-up, which should be considered during patient counseling. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: 3.

Effects of Cognitive Behavioral Couple Therapy With Integrated Mindfulness on Mindful Attention, Depressive Symptoms, and Dyadic Adjustment in Low-Income Couples: A Pilot Randomized Clinical Trial.

Psychosocial distress can exacerbate marital conflict, maladjustment, and mental health vulnerability. This pilot randomized clinical trial examined cognitive-behavioral couple therapy (CBCT) integrated with mindfulness in low-income Brazilian couples (per-capita household income up to one minimum wage). Thirty-four participants (17 heterosexual couples) were randomized (independent computer-generated sequence) to an experimental (n = 16) or waitlist control group (n = 18). We assessed dyadic adjustment, mindful attention, marital social skills, and depressive symptoms (R-DAS, MAAS, IHSC, BDI-II) at baseline, post-treatment, and 3-month follow-up. The intervention was eight 80-min conjoint sessions plus daily home exercises. Time × group effects favored the experimental group for dyadic adjustment, mindful attention, and depressive symptoms (all p < 0.001, = 0.20-0.37), but not marital social skills (p = 0.14). Because two outcomes differed at baseline, effects were confirmed with baseline- and dependence-adjusted sensitivity analyses. These findings provide preliminary evidence that CBCT with mindfulness may benefit disadvantaged couples.

Rare clinical complications following scorpion envenomation worldwide: A systematic review.

Scorpion envenomation is an important public health problem in many tropical and subtropical regions and may result in rare but life-threatening grade III complications involving multiple organ systems. This systematic review synthesizes published articles from 2000 to 2025 that describe uncommon, severe clinical manifestations following scorpion stings. A total of 71 rare clinical complications were identified, encompassing cardiovascular, neurological, respiratory, renal, hematological, ocular, dermatological, and other systemic manifestations. Cardiovascular complications were the most frequently reported, whereas neurological complications exhibited the greatest clinical diversity. Mesobuthus tamulus and Hemiscorpius lepturus were most commonly associated with severe complications, and children younger than 10 years appeared to be at increased risk of serious neurological involvement. These findings highlight the remarkable clinical heterogeneity of grade III scorpion envenomation and emphasize the importance of early recognition, species-specific clinical awareness, and timely management to reduce severe outcomes in endemic regions.

Role of bioprocessing in modifying cardiometabolic outcomes of an oat-based dairy alternative in a randomised controlled clinical intervention.

BACKGROUND & AIMS: A healthy diet rich in fibre-containing foods such as oats supports cardiometabolic health. Bioprocessing methods, including fermentation and enzymatic treatment, may further enhance the health benefits of oat-based foods by altering their physicochemical properties. The aims of this study were to investigate the effects of consuming fermented and non-fermented oat-based products enriched with fibre and protein on cardiometabolic outcomes gastrointestinal symptoms, and to consider how assessed physicochemical and nutritional differences between the products might relate to any observed effects. METHODS: In a 12-week randomised crossover trial, 56 adults with mild metabolic deterioration consumed fermented (gurt) and non-fermented (porridge) oat-based products enriched with fibre and protein as part of their habitual diet for three weeks each. The study products were specifically developed and prepared for this study using identical ingredients. Primary cardiometabolic factors and gastrointestinal symptoms (GSRS) were measured at four time points, while secondary outcomes were assessed at baseline and after both product periods. Physicochemical and nutritional characterization of the study products included cereal β-glucan (BG) and protein molecular weight distribution, starch and sugar analysis, microscopy, acidity, and viscosity. RESULTS: During the gurt consumption, non-high-density lipoprotein (non-HDL) and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol concentrations decreased (-0.15 ± 0.51 mmol/L, p = 0.028; and -0.12 ± 0.46 mmol/L, p = 0.047, respectively), with a minimal impact on blood pressure and GSRS scores. Additionally, ferritin was lower after the gurt compared with baseline (-4.00 [-16.50, 6.25] μg/L, p = 0.015). Similarly, ferritin levels were lower after the porridge period (-7.50 [-20.50, 4.25] μg/L), accompanied with a modest decrease in blood pressure and HbA1c. These effects, however, did not substantially differ between the product periods. Insulin showed a significant sequence effect (psequence∗time <0.05) and was analysed in sequence groups. Insulin levels significantly decreased during the gurt consumption in the group that started with the porridge (-2.22 ± 6.16 mU/L, p = 0.015). Fermentation and enzymatic treatment induced significant changes in BG MW, starch, and composition in the gurt, which may alongside with increased fibre intake during the intervention explain the observed results. CONCLUSION: Consuming a fermented, oat-based gurt as part of habitual diet may improve cholesterol metabolism, likely due to increased oat fibre intake rather than fermentation as such. Moreover, greater intake of oat-based products, regardless of processing, can reduce ferritin concentrations and marginally improve other cardiometabolic factors. The study was registered in ClinicalTrials.gov as NCT06393114.

Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence Against Politically Active Women: A Systematic Review of Psychological and Political Consequences and Women's Coping Behaviors.

Technology-facilitated gender-based violence presents critical challenges for politically active women, whose professional roles often expose them to elevated levels of online abuse with far-reaching impacts on their emotional well-being, professional engagement, and participation in public life. This systematic review synthesizes findings from 48 studies employing qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods research to examine the psychological and political consequences and coping mechanisms associated with online harassment. Eighty-one percent of the included studies (39/48) report psychological distress, anxiety, and fear among targeted women, with 31% of the studies (15/48) identifying online harassment as a trigger for (re-) traumatization. The political consequences are equally significant, with 62% of the studies (30/48) documenting modifications in political messaging, 39% (19/48) noting reduced engagement with online platforms, and 29% (14/48) showing that women abandon their online presence altogether. Additionally, 20% (10/48) of the studies report cases of women withdrawing from their political roles. In terms of coping strategies, 66% (32/48) report women blocking or muting harassers, while 37% (18/48) document women reporting abuse to authorities or platforms. This study highlights the pervasive impact of technology-facilitated violence on women's emotional well-being, and their political participation and underscores its broader implications for democratic discourse and social equity.

Impact of renal dysfunction on immediate versus staged revascularization of non-culprit lesions in patients with ST segment elevation myocardial infarction: a pre-specified subgroup analysis of the randomized MULTISTARS AMI trial.

BACKGROUND: Renal dysfunction might affect outcomes in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and multivessel coronary artery disease (MVD) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). METHODS: In MULTISTARS AMI, patients with STEMI and MVD were randomized to immediate or staged PCI of non-culprit lesions. In this pre-specified analysis, patients were stratified according to the presence of renal dysfunction at baseline, defined at an estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) of 60 ml/min/1.73 m2. Patients with an eGFR < 30 ml/min/1.73 m2 were excluded from the trial. The primary endpoint was a composite of death, non-fatal myocardial infarction, stroke, unplanned revascularization, or hospitalization for heart failure at 1 year. RESULTS: In MULTISTARS AMI, 108 (13%) of 832 patients had renal dysfunction. The primary endpoint occurred more frequently in patients with renal dysfunction (19.4% vs. 11.2%, unadjusted HR 1.82, 95% CI 1.13-2.94), primarily driven by higher rates of death. Among patients with renal dysfunction, the rates of the primary end point were 14.5% and 24.5% in the immediate and staged PCI groups (unadjusted HR 0.55, 95% CI 0.23-1.33). There was no interaction between renal dysfunction and the randomized treatment assignment with respect to the primary end point (adjusted HR 1.30, 95% CI 0.8-2.20, pint 0.82). The occurrence of acute renal insufficiency was statistically similar in patients with renal dysfunction who underwent immediate and staged PCI (10.9% vs. 18.9%, unadjusted HR 0.61, 95% CI 0.22-1.72, pint 0.09). Renal dysfunction at baseline emerged as a strong risk factor for the development of acute renal insufficiency (adjusted HR 5.0, 95% CI 2.30-10.70, p < 0.01). CONCLUSIONS: Outcomes with immediate compared to staged multivessel PCI did not appear significantly altered by the presence of renal dysfunction at baseline. Defining Gaslighting in Gender-Based Violence: A Mixed-Methods Systematic Review.

In both public and academic discourse, gaslighting has gained increased attention, especially regarding psychological abuse, power imbalance, and gender-based violence (GBV). However, the term gaslighting is often inconsistently defined and conflated with broader forms of manipulation. It is also largely examined in the context of intimate partner violence (IPV), which ignores its occurrence in other forms of GBV. The present study presents a systematic review that synthesizes interdisciplinary academic literature to create a comprehensive framework of gaslighting. This framework includes the specific tactics that are used by perpetrators of gaslighting, the social-psychological outcomes experienced by survivors, and the role of systemic inequalities and social power dynamics. A search across multiple databases identified 96 records that discussed gaslighting in relation to GBV. Thematic analysis revealed a two-part framework for understanding gaslighting: (a) gaslighting tactics, which were categorized into cognitive and perceptual manipulation, emotional and psychological abuse, power dynamics and control, and additional forms of manipulation and (b) survivor outcomes, including disruptions to perception and memory, emotional distress, social isolation, and resistance strategies. The findings show that gaslighting is more than just an interpersonal act; it is sustained within social structures, where perpetrators use identity factors and forms of marginalization to exploit survivors. Overall, this review presents a comprehensive definition of gaslighting that illustrates its epistemic nature and its intersection with systemic oppression. It is suggested that future research studies gaslighting in GBV contexts beyond IPV, while practice and policy efforts should seek to enhance recognition and support for survivors.

Organizational bullying among nursing faculty: A systematic review of consequences, contributing factors, and interventions.

BACKGROUND: Organizational bullying among nursing faculty is a systemic and pervasive issue with profound psychological, professional, and institutional consequences. Despite increasing awareness, the literature remains fragmented, and a comprehensive synthesis is lacking. METHODS: This systematic review followed PRISMA guidelines and examined empirical studies on organizational bullying among nursing faculty, with no date restrictions applied. A structured search across five databases (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, CINAHL, and Embase) identified studies that met inclusion criteria related to the consequences, contributing factors, and interventions. The Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT) was used to assess study quality. RESULTS: Fifteen studies meeting the quality threshold were included. Organizational bullying was consistently associated with psychological distress (e.g., anxiety, depression, burnout, suicidal ideation), professional disengagement, and intent to leave. Contributing factors were categorized into structural and organizational (e.g., hierarchical power imbalances, toxic workplace culture), managerial and HR-related (e.g., lack of leadership support, poor reporting mechanisms), and individual/social (e.g., gender or ethnic discrimination, early-career vulnerability). Intervention strategies identified included policy reforms, leadership training, supportive reporting systems, and psychological support services, though evidence on their effectiveness remains limited. CONCLUSIONS: Organizational bullying in nursing academia is a serious and multifaceted challenge with detrimental effects on individuals and institutions. Addressing it requires a comprehensive, evidence-based approach that includes structural reforms, leadership development, and psychosocial support systems. Academic institutions must prioritize the creation of safe, inclusive, and respectful environments to retain faculty and sustain the quality of nursing education.

Influence of built environment on occupational health of women workers in tea plantations of India: a systematic review.

The built environment, comprising homes, buildings, roads, public spaces, infrastructure, land use, civic design, and amenities, has a considerable influence on occupational health. In India's tea plantations, where women comprise majority of the workforce, the built environment plays a crucial role in determining occupational health. The aforementioned point can be explained by the co-occurrence of living and working conditions, which often coexist in tea plantations, further resulting in vulnerabilities to the health of women workers. Therefore, to understand the influence of built environment on the occupational health of women workers in tea plantations of India, the present paper employs a systematic review using the PRISMA 2020 framework. In the first search, 421 studies were identified, of which 21 studies met all the inclusion criteria. A quality appraisal and risk of bias of the included studies have been undertaken. The results identified that musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are the most prevalent occupational health consequence, affecting over 80 % of the women workers in Indian tea plantations, substantiated by a range of estimates in the studies reviewed. Gendered disparities in wage earning, self-autonomy, and dual responsibilities often lead to emotional distress, as delineated in minimal of the reviewed studies, grounded on self-disclosed or qualitative analysis. Further, deprived housing conditions and other facilities across the reviewed studies reflect institutional negligence. Therefore, by conducting a systematic synthesis of occupational health of women workers in the Indian tea plantation sector through the lens of the built environment, prior accounts have been extended. Addressing these issues is essential for safeguarding women workers, which will ensure the longevity of the Indian tea industry.

Symptom Networks and Core Symptoms in Patients with Solid Tumors Undergoing Chemotherapy: A Systematic Review.

OBJECTIVES: To summarize symptom network characteristics in patients with solid tumors undergoing chemotherapy and synthesize evidence on core symptoms, bridge symptoms, and temporal associations. METHODS: We systematically searched eight databases through October 2025 to identify studies that applied symptom network analysis to adults with solid tumors receiving chemotherapy. Eligible studies assessed symptoms using cross-sectional, longitudinal, or interventional designs. Two reviewers independently screened articles and extracted data on study characteristics, symptom assessment, and network outcomes. Methodological quality was assessed using the National Institutes of Health Study Quality Assessment Tool. RESULTS: Twenty-seven studies involving 13,452 participants were included, yielding 79 symptom networks. Fatigue was the most frequently identified core symptom (10/20, 50%), whereas sadness, lack of appetite, and nausea each occurred in 10% of studies, with variation across cancer types, treatment phases, and latent classes. Bridge symptoms included disturbed sleep, lack of appetite, and dry mouth (2/7, 28.6%). Studies evaluating temporal associations found that symptoms such as sadness, dyspnea, somnolence, and dry mouth predicted subsequent changes in appetite, distress, nausea, and other outcomes. Strength metrics showed acceptable stability (correlation stability coefficients: 0.28-0.83). CONCLUSIONS: Fatigue was frequently identified as a central symptom across studies, largely reflecting evidence from breast cancer studies. Core symptoms varied across cancer types, treatment phases, and latent classes, suggesting heterogeneity. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING PRACTICE: These findings highlight the importance of considering relationships among symptoms in clinical care. Focusing on key symptoms such as fatigue, while tailoring management strategies to cancer-specific symptom patterns, may support more effective symptom management.

Eating Experiences During Cancer Treatment in Adolescents and Young Adults: A Systematic Literature Review and Meta-Synthesis.

Adolescents and young adults (AYAs) aged 15-39 with cancer face distinct challenges during treatment, with eating consistently emerging as one of the most distressing and underrecognized concerns. At a critical life stage, AYAs must navigate illness-related consequences that profoundly affect well-being. Eating reflects these broader challenges and is identified as a key issue requiring health care attention. To address this, we synthesized evidence on AYAs' eating experiences and well-being during mealtime-related activities to inform health care practice. Qualitative and mixed-method studies were identified through searches across CINAHL, Embase, PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science for studies published up to May 2025, supplemented by snowball searches. Of 3214 records, 74 full-text articles were reviewed, and 18 met the inclusion criteria. These represented 302 AYAs, 73 relatives, and 88 health care professionals. Studies were analyzed using Joanna Briggs Institute review methods and GRADE-CERQual to support clinical interpretability. The meta-synthesis identified one core theme: "Eating as an embodied struggle and act of agency," with three subthemes: (a) living through physical and sensory disruption, (b) carrying the weight of new emotions and shifting relations, and (c) finding ways through gaps in support. Eating emerged as a disrupted, emotionally charged, yet agentic act requiring sensitive, individualized approaches. Thirteen evidence-informed recommendations were developed to guide clinical application. These emphasize early nutritional screening, dietetic support, flexible meal options, respectful family involvement, and psychosocially attuned care. Future research should codevelop and evaluate tailored interventions that address AYAs' embodied, emotional, and social needs to improve eating-related quality of life during cancer treatment.

Symptoms and treatment response to florensocatib and inhaled tobramycin in bronchiectasis: Post hoc analysis of two randomized trials.

Inhaled antibiotics and DPP-1 inhibitors improve clinical outcomes in bronchiectasis, but whether baseline symptom burden predicts differential treatment responses remains unclear. In this post hoc analysis of two multicenter randomized trials (SAVE-BE, n = 224; TORNASOL, n = 357), we evaluate the association between baseline Quality of Life-Bronchiectasis Respiratory Symptom Scale (QoL-B-RSS) and treatment effects of florensocatib and inhaled tobramycin. In SAVE-BE, florensocatib reduces exacerbation rates versus placebo (relative risk [RR], 0.47; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.33-0.67; p < 0.0001), with RRs of 0.53 and 0.40 observed in patients with high and low symptom burdens, respectively, but no significant symptomatic improvement. In TORNASOL, tobramycin produces clinically meaningful QoL-B-RSS improvements (exceeding the 8-point cutoff in high-symptom patients) and ameliorates bronchitic symptoms, with greater benefits in those with higher baseline symptom burden. These hypothesis-generating findings suggest that baseline symptom burden may identify differential responses to anti-inflammatory versus anti-infective therapies in bronchiectasis and support its potential as a simple, practical stratification tool to guide personalized treatment.
