Since 1985 more than 50% of all medical students in the Netherlands are women. Only a tiny fraction of specialists, professors, directors of hospitals or insurance companies are women, however. Feminization of medicine will balance the skewed male medical culture. This will improve health care for women and career planning for women doctors. Encouraging part time work will generate incentives to enhance the continuity of medical care for patients in general.
