Abstract

"This paper discusses some problems related to a type of incomplete contingency table, called a block-triangular table. Furthermore, this paper also presents an illustration in computing the Pearson Chi-square based on this type of table [as well as] a general formula." (SUMMARY IN ENG)

[Development of novel methodology for rapid conjugated oligosaccharide synthesis].

Glycosylation is one of the most important post-translation modifications of proteins, which affects biological activities by way of controlling higher order structure. Recently, the novel structure of glycoprotein, namely C-glycosyl protein was identified in various proteins. The first total synthesis of the naturally occurring C-glycosyl amino acid and peptide was achieved. The mannose and tryptophan moiety was connected via ring opening reaction of epoxide by lithiated indole derivative. After functional group conversion and deprotection, the glyco-amino acid was synthesized in a concise and stereoselective manner. To develop the rapid oligosaccharide construction methodology, the soluble polymer supported oligosaccharide was investigated. Due to high polarity of polymer support, the purification of PEG bound compound is achieved quite easily. The real-time monitoring of the glycosylation reaction was performed by MALDI-TOF MS, whereas the deprotection reaction of chloroacetyl group was performed by color test using (p-nitrobenzyl) pyridine. The purification of PEG bound compound which has chloroacetyl group, is achieved by capture-release strategy by use of resin bound cysteine derivative. By combination of these methodologies and novel linker, tetrasaccharides were synthesized.

Synthesis of poly(2-methyl-3-hydroxyoctanoate) via anionic polymerization of alpha-methyl-beta-pentyl-beta-propiolactone.

Synthesis of an alpha,beta-alkyl branched polyester, i.e., poly(2-methyl-3-hydroxyoctanoate), has been accomplished via anionic polymerization of alpha-methyl-beta-pentyl-beta-propiolactone mediated by supramolecular complexes of potassium methoxide or potassium hydroxide, respectively. The structure of resulting polymers has been established by electrospray ionization multistage mass spectrometry (ESI-MSn), FT-IR, NMR, and GPC analyses. Previously proposed addition-elimination mechanism of the polymerization of beta-lactones containing alpha-hydrogen by alkoxide anion has been confirmed to operate also in the case of beta-lactone having alkyl substituents in both alpha and beta positions.

Solid-phase synthesis of deoxyribonucleotides having a cap structure analog.

In this study, the solid-phase synthesis of oligodeoxyribonucleotides having a guanosine pyrophosphate cap structure (Gpp-) was achieved by using a new guanosine monophosphate unit having the DMTr group capable of estimation of coupling efficiency of the pyrophosphate bond formation. Since 7-methylguanosine base was unstable under basic conditions, Gpp-capped DNA oligomers were synthesized by using a new linker having a silanediyl bond, which allowed to release the DNA chain from the solid support by treatment with fluoride anion under neutral conditions.
