Psoriasis, necrobiosis lipoidica, granuloma annulare, vitiligo and skin infections in the same diabetic patient.
A diabetic patient is described presenting psoriasis, necrobiosis lipoidica diabeticorum, granuloma annulare, and vitiligo and with a history of recurrent erysipelas and mycotic infections. Scrupulous physical examination excluded further systemic or cutaneous involvement. The immunological workup revealed both phenotypic and functional defects in cellular immunity.

Surgical approach to the treatment of refractory lesions of pemphigus vulgaris.
A patient with pemphigus vulgaris had lesions on the lip that proved to be refractory to intralesional corticosteroid therapy and to treatment with azathioprine and later to daily administration of 250 mg of prednisone. The patient developed marked cushingoid features and deep vein thrombosis, rendering the continuation of the prednisone therapy unadvisable . Total vermilionectomy of the affected lip was performed and the prednisone was gradually tapered, taking care that oral lesions remained under control. Eighteen months after the operation, the patient is receiving a single alternate-daily dose of 20 mg prednisone, and both the lip and oral lesions are in remission.
Structural and sequence-dependent aspects of drug intercalation into nucleic acids.
Information gained from X-ray crystallographic studies on drug-nucleic acid complexes is described, with emphasis on the intercalation process. Relevant data from NMR experiments are examined in order to highlight similarities and differences between solution and solid-state structures. Theoretical analyses of intercalation complexes are also discussed and evaluated, with respect to the structural methods, with special reference being made to nucleic acid conformation and positions of drug molecules in the binding sites.
Familial occurrence of Kaposi's sarcoma. Report of two brothers.
The racial and geographical distribution of Kaposi's sarcoma is well recognized. Therefore, a hereditary factor is suspected to play a role in it's etiology. Inspite of this, only about 15 instances of familial cases with the disease have been as yet reported in the literature. We describe here an additional instance of Kaposi's sarcoma occurring in two Jewish brothers born in Rumania and we resume the literature on previous reports of familial occurrence of Kaposi's sarcoma.
Muscle relaxing agent in cutaneous leiomyoma.
The management of pain in cutaneous leiomyoma involving large areas of the body surface is problematic. The surgical approach is not practical and the pain in these cases is refractory almost to all analgesic agents. This is a description of a case in which a muscle relaxing agent proved to be the only effective therapeutic approach.
