[Hodgkin's disease and pregnancy].
The onset of pregnancy raises special problems during Hodgkin's disease and renders difficult full assessment of the extent of the disease. Furthermore acute exacerbations are fairly common, except in patients with a complete remission for more than two years. The critical period seems to be labour and the following weeks. In fact when pregnancy occurs during Hodgkin's disease, one may decide to interrupt it. However, if the patient has been in remission for more than two years, one may allow the pregnancy to continue. The decision will be taken in the light of each case. After pregnancy contraception should be advised in all women with Hodgkin's disease.

Morphologic study of virus-like particles in a case of acute leukemia.
Virus-like particles, grouped in clusters not bound by a membraine, were seen in electron micrographs of fresh leucoblasts of an acute leukemic patient. They consisted of large (100-nm diameter), round particles apparently composed of subunits. Tubular structures (30-50-nm diameter) were also seen in leucoblasts of the same patient. The two types of structures were never seen simultaneously in the same cell. The authors review the literature pertaining to the morphology of virus-like particles associated with malignant hematologic disease.

[Chronic lymphoid leukemia and multiple myeloma].
The authors report a case of multiple kappa myeloma comboned with chronic lymphoid leukemia. The chronic lymphoid leukemia had evolved over a 13-year period in the classical manner, without serum or urnary monoclonal immunoglobulins. The multiple myeloma with blood and urinary kappa chains appeared suddenly with a typical clinical and radiological picture accompanied by renal insufficiency. Thd diagnosis was confirmed by the demonstration of both lymphocyte and plasmocyte cell proliferation and a study of the ultrastructure which showed the sarcomatous and secretory character of the plasmocytes. A study of plasmocyte subpopulation showed the proliferation of B lymphocytes. A combination of chronic lymphoid leukemia and multiple myeloma is exceptional. The physiopathological interpretation (mono or biclonal proliferation) is discussed in the light of current nosological conceptions concerning lymphoproliferative disorders.

[Evidence for surface antigens on Hodgkin's disease cells].
Absorbed serum of a rabbit immunized with a suspension of cells of Hodgkins origin, allowed us to demonstrate a surface antigen on cells of Hodgkin origin. Where this antigen is situated in relation to those already described, notably in respect to the possible carcinoembryonic character, has yet to be determined.
Loss of anti-tumour immunogenicity of a somatic cell hybrid line with increasing subculture.
Good immunoprotection was afforded by A9/SEWA somatic hybrid cells in the C3H mouse/C3H Py tumour system, confirming results previously obtained in the A.SW mouse/SEWA tumour system. However, in this study the immunogenicity decreased with increasing serial subculture of the hybrid line and concomitant chromosome loss.
Comparison between different techniques of immuno-protection in the A-SW mouse-SEWA tumour system.
Various procedures for immunoprotection in the A-SW mouse SEWA tumour system were compared. Four types of protector agents were used: polyoma virus, allogeneic S724 cells, A9/SEWA hybrid cells and xenogeneic ST(py) cells. Several injection schedules were also employed. On the whole, reasonable immunoprotection was obtained. The results, when allogeneic hybrid or xenogeneic cells were used, were comparable with those obtained for polyoma virus. This indicates that the T.A.T.A. of the SEWA tumour had been well conserved. When polyoma virus alone was used as the protector agent, injection 7 days before the tumour challenge, or iterative injection, afforded better protection than a single injection on the day of challenge.
