In a model of closed lower-leg fracture in rabbits and of secondary bone-fracture healing, scintigraphic control until biological healing was performed. Biological fracture healing was assumed for a region of interest (ROI)-activity ratio close to 1.0. After application of 99mTc-HEDP, 151 examinations were performed. ROI activity increased significantly until day 14 p.i. and reached the maximum value (Q = 6.44) on day 14 postfracture. Sixty-one lower leg fractures were treated by ultrasound from days 14-28 postfracture. These stimulated fractures were biologically healed on day 168 postfracture. The fractures that were not treated by ultrasound could not be detected by scanning after day 203 postfracture.
The influence of carrier amounts of Fe, Ga, and Tm on the biodistribution of 67Ga-, 59Fe-, and 167Tm-citrate in mice was investigated. Our results suggest that 167Tm, unlike 67Ga and 59Fe, is not transported by transferrin in the blood. Of the three radioisotopes tested, 167Tm had the highest tumor/background ratio (10 h after the injection). The application of Fe carrier led to an enhancement of the elimination of 67Ga from the blood and muscles, resulting in a better tumor/background ratio.
The alpha-emitter astatine-211 appears as one of the most suitable representatives for radiotherapy owing to its excellent decay properties. We report the studies in mice on the stability of the astatine bond to HSA-particles. Microspheres stick fast in the lung capillaries. There is a comparatively very slow decrease of radioactivity in the lungs. The 211At-labelled microspheres appear quite stable in vivo compared with a series of other biomolecules and so give a potential possibility for using the excellent radiophysical features of 211At in endogenous therapy of malignant tumours.

The scintigraphic course observation until the biologic fracture healing took place on the fracture model of the closed lower leg fracture with secondary fracture healing in rabbit. 151 scintigraphic investigations were carried out by means of 99mTc HEDP. The ROI activity quotient increased significantly on the 14th day after the fracture up to the maximum value Q = 6.44. 61 fractures of the lower leg were treated by ultrasound from the 14th to the 28th day after the fracture. These stimulated fractures showed a biologic healing on the 168th day already. The fractures treated without ultrasound could not be proved any more scintigraphically after the 203rd day after the fracture.

A closed fracture in the medium third part of the tibia was carried out in 50 rabbits. The scintigraphy was performed in groups of 5 animals at a time 2, 4, 6, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, and 24 hours after the fracture trauma, in each case 45 minutes after the injection of 8 MBq 99mTc diphosphonat per kg body weight. The ROI activity quotient of both shank diaphysis was analysed. The first ascent was observed at the tenth postoperative hour. The ROI activity quotient was 2.1 24 hours after the fracture trauma. No marking of the fracture area was observed but an increase of the activity altogether above the diaphysis, and no ascent of the activity quotient in the neighbouring joints was observed.
An internistically and nephrologically as well as paediatrically well preexamined and selected group of patients in particular cases needs for the judgment of the renal function and capacity a nuclear-medical diagnostics which passes these preexaminations. Renal sequence scintigraphy including the trend scintigraphy and examinations of the renal clearance with side-separated judgment of the renal clearance with side-separated judgment of the function are at our disposal. The indication of these techniques and the value of evidence are demonstrated with the help of problem cases. As problem cases are demonstrated a child with glomerulonephritis, a female patient with renal failure post partum before and after haemodialysis including the observation of the course a female patient with localized inflammatory disease as well as a patient with kidney tumour and cirrhosis of the kidney. It is shown that nuclear-medical techniques recognize relatively discrete, but also severe pathological changes and are necessary within a complex judgment of the function, the quantitative establishment of the functional and compensatory capacity of the kidneys as well as for the planning of therapy and the control of the course.
