[A new approach to the evaluation of the effectiveness of antihypertensive therapy in patients with mild and moderate arterial hypertension based on the example of isoptin retard].

Isoptin-retard (Knoll, BASF) in a single dose 240 mg/day provides a significant hypotensive effect in patients with mild and moderate essential hypertension noticeable as early as treatment day 2. Sensitivity to the drug does not tend to decrease with time. The treatment should be conducted under ECG monitoring.

[Isoptin-Retard 240 mg in the treatment of mild and moderate arterial hypertension].

To elucidate a hypotensive effect of isoptin-retard in a dose 240 mg/day, 17 males with mild and moderate hypertension receiving the drug underwent 24-h monitoring by SpaceLabs 5300 and pressure loading. A significant lowering of both mean systolic and diastolic pressure was found both in daytime and at night. A hypotensive effect persisted for 2 months. No case of serious cardiovascular complications, of noticeable shifts in blood biochemistry was reported.

[Carbohydrate and energy metabolism in the dynamics of DIC syndrome in children with pyo-inflammatory diseases].

The changes in carbohydrate and energy metabolism were established to be inconclusive in patients with different stages of the DIC syndrome. Optimization of carbohydrate and energy metabolism performed in a differentiated manner, bearing in mind the depth of hemostatic disturbances is one of the main trends in the treatment of the DIC syndrome in children suffering from pyo-inflammatory diseases.

[Disseminated intravascular coagulation in newborn infants with infection].

The treatment of disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) in infants with sepsis should be instituted after multimodality therapy of pyo-inflammatory diseases taking into account the degree of hemostatic disorders. In stage I DIC (hypercoagulation one), it is necessary to reach an adequate level of the inhibitors of the thrombin and plasmin systems. In this case it is quite sufficient to use donor's cryoplasma without heparin administration. In stage II DIC (transitory one) and stage III (hypocoagulation one), it is required that the drugs possessing antithrombin and antiplasmin activity, substitution therapy with blood preparations and components as well as measures to control hemorrhagic diathesis may be used.

[Indications for using heparin in diffuse suppurative peritonitis in children].

In non-complicated course of diffuse purulent peritonitis in children the anti-thrombin (frozen plasma) drugs are thought by the authors to be sufficient for purposeful correction of disturbed hemostasis in children. The appearance of laboratory signs of IDS and clinical manifestations of functional insufficiency of parenchymal organs are considered to be an indication to use frozen plasma and heparin irrespective of previous operations.

[Action of hyperoxia on the total electrical activity of the olfactory epithelium of the frog].

Olfactory mucosa of the frog was stimulated with odours of amylacetat , butanol, alcohol, naphthalene, acetic acid in air and oxygen media under normal and high oxygen pressure (0.2 MPa and 0.7 MPa). The electroolfactogram (EOG) amplitude was higher in oxygen due, probably, to the olfactory mucosa oxygen saturation on concentration gradient as well as to the activation of processes related to the EOG generation. 0.2 MPa pressure as well as 0.7 MPa pressure applied for 60 min decreased the EOG amplitude.

[Anticoagulant therapy of hemostatic disorders in suppurative septic diseases in children].

Experience with the treatment of 50 children enabled the authors to conclude that anticoagulative therapy of the disturbed hemostasis system in children with pyoseptic diseases (syndrome of disseminated intravascular blood coagulation) should be fulfilled as a controlled hypocoagulation at the given therapeutic level. The individual choice of the daily dose of heparin is believed to provide a pronounced clinical effect.
