[Alveolar soft tissue sarcoma].

An autopsy observation of alveolar soft tissue sarcoma of the left hip muscles in a man of 66 is described. Predominantly lymphogenic metastasizing of the alveolar sarcoma was observed and two hypes of tumour cells, "dark" and "light" were distinguished. PAS-positive substances, lipids and mucus were found in the cytoplasm of the "light" cells. Histogenetically, the alveolar soft tissue sarcoma is assumed to be close to striated muscles.

[Malignant glomus tumor of the jejunum with distant metastases].

An autopsy observation of a malignant glomal tumor (angioleiomyomatotic variant) of rare localization (jejunum) with degeneration, outgrowth through the intestinal wall, and numerous metastases (regional, paratracheal and bifurcational lymph nodes, the liver, lungs) in a man of 65 is described.

[Acute untreated idiopathic polymyositis with cardiac lesions].

An autopsy observation of acute idiopathic polymyositis with the involvement of the sceletal musculature and the heart in a man of 23 who had not been treated with corticosteroids is presented. The main morphological lesions were found in the cross-striated muscles and myocardium. They were characterized by deep degeneration, necrosis, and atrophy of muscle fibers, multiplication of sarcolemma nuclei, massive lymphoplasmo-histiocytis infiltration of the interstitial tissue, active resorbtion by macrophages of the dead muscle cells, the occurrence of giant cells. No disorganization of the connective tissue of the muscles, derma, and the vessels was observed.

[The stimulation of the vitreous body hyalocytes in an experiment].

Loss of vitreous volume as a result of injury or surgical intervention leads to death of the eye. The authors developed a method for hyalocyte culturing on the glass in culture medium. Culture medium was as follows (100 ml): 50 ml medium 199, 30 ml lactate albumin hydrolysate, and 20 ml human serum, group IV. Vitreous cells were collected from rabbit eyes. Primary and secondary growth zones were distinguished in the course of culture growth. Morphologically intact rabbit hyalocytes in the culture were polymorphous. These results may indicate a possibility of transplanted culture development in a live eye.

[Comparative characteristics of the vitreous body proteins in vertebrates].

Using disc-electrophoresis in polyacrylamide gel and immunochemical methods, studies have been made on proteins from the vitreous body of mammals (albino mouse, rat, guinea pig, pig, dog, cat), birds (hen), amphibians (the frog Rana ridibunda) and fish (the perch Perca fluviatilis). It was found that vitreous body proteins in man and animals include both the specific proteins and those of the blood serum. During evolution, specific antigens of the vitreous body attained strict species specificity, although some of them preserved the initial properties.

[Effect, on kidney structure, of the use of antitumor preparations combined with diacarb and furosemide].

It has been shown in experiments on rats with transplanted sarcoma 45 that cyclophosphane (10 mg/kg) and 6-mercaptopurine (25 mg/kg) produced hemodynamic changes in the kidneys, as well as swelling of the endothelium of the glomerular capillaries and of the epithelium of the tubules, and focal interstitial fibrosis. Concurrent administration of antineoplastic drugs with diacarb (200 mg/kg) or furosemide (50 mg/kg) returned the hemodynamics to normal and reduced nephrotoxicity of the antineoplastic drugs used.

[Polycythemia vera, complicated by myocardial infarction].

In an autopsied female primary polycythemia was definitely diagnosed only after histological examination. A classical form of Vaquez-Osler disease was characterized by pronounced normo-, granulo- and megakaryocyte hyperplasia of the bone marrow, spleen and liver myelosis with an admixture of atypical megakaryocytes and splenomegaly. There was a complication in the form of two coronary arteries thrombosis. Lethal outcome resulted from myocardial infarction.
