[Effect on the cardiovascular system of a 3.5% gelatin infusion solution Gelafusal in hypertensive women in late pregnancy].

Using the method of quantitative sphygmometry with bloodless graphic recording of the arterial blood pressure and direct electronic timing of the pulse wave velocity the behaviour of the cardiovascular system in 10 hypertensive late pregnant women was examined before, during and after the intravenous infusion of 500 ml of a 3,5% gelatinous infusion solution (Gelafusal) given within 30 minutes. There is a mild and transient expansion of the plasma volume. Arterial blood pressure, stroke volume, cardiac output and total peripheral resistance remain constant nearly. Consequently the employment of Gelafusal in hypertensive late pregnant women is possible without making worse the arterial hypertension.

[Cardiovascular changes during ethanol-tocolysis].

The cardiovascular effects of an intravenous infusion of a 5% ethanol-10% fructose-solution was examined in 10 healthy late pregnant women with the method of quantitative sphygmometry. There are insignificant changes of the arterial pressure, but increase of stroke volume, cardiac output, work and power and a decrease of total peripheral resistance. In spite of these favourable hemodynamic alterations, particularly the constant heart rate, ethanol should be used only for a short-time-tocolysis.

[Cardiovascular effect of infukoll 6% on normotensive late pregnancy].

By means of quantitative sphygmometry and the unbloody recording of arterial blood pressure the hemodynamic effect of an infusion of 500 ml dextrane 75 (Infukoll 6%) on the cardiovascular systeme in 10 normovolemic normotensive healthy late pregnant women is examined. Hematocrit decreases as an expression of increasing plasma volume. Arterial blood pressure and heart rate remain unchanged. Stroke volume and cardiac output increase significantly. Simultaneously total peripheral resistance decreases. Therefore dextrane 75 is indicated in pregnancy for therapy and prophylaxis of circulatory conditions with lowered plasma volume.

[Cardiovascular effect of fenoterol (Partusisten)].

8 normotensive late pregnant women in the early latent phase of premature labor were examined before, during and after the intravenous pump infusion of fenoterol (Partusisten) with the method of quantitative sphygmometry, the bloodless graphic registration of the arterial blood pressure and the direct electronic timing of pulse wave velocity. Dose levels of fenoterol were 3 microgram/min and 6 microgram/min. During the administration of fenoterol systolic blood pressure increases insignificantly, but mean and diastolic pressure decrease distinctly with broadening of amplitude. Stroke volume, cardiac output, work and power of the heart increase significantly. The fall of the total peripheral resistance is much more pronounciated than the decrease of blood pressure. Therefore the hemodynamic mode of action of fenoterol is a favourable one in regard to the perfusion of peripheral tissues. The effects on the cardiovascular system in a dose level usual for tocolysis are smaller than those of nylidrin.

[Cardiovascular effect of solcoseryl with low molecular dextran in normal late pregnancy].

By means of quantitative sphygmometry and the unbloody recording of arterial blood pressure the hemodynamic effect of an infusion of Solcoseryl in combination with low molecular dextrane on the maternal cardiovascular system in 9 normotensive healthy late pregnant women is examined. Solcoseryl causes no improvement of the cardiovascular effects known for low molecular dextrane.

[Cardiovascular effects of prostaglandin F 2 alpha in early pregnancy].

In 10 normotensive healthy early pregnant women cardiovascular studies were done before, during and after the intravenous administration of prostaglandin F2alpha with the method of quantitative sphygmometry. Arterial blood pressure was measured graphically with an automatic sphygmomanometer unit. Velocity of aortic pulse wave was determined directly on the principle of exact electronic timing. Prostaglandin F2alpha was infused with electric pump in the dosage of 6, 5, 13 and 26 mug per minute for 30 minutes in each case. Arterial blood pressure is nearly constant. Heart rate, the elasticity coefficient of the arteries E' and total peripheral resistance decreases significantly. Stroke volume, cardiac output, work and power of the heart increases significantly. Nevertheless there are no contra-indications on the part of cardiovascular system for using prostaglandin F2alpha for induction of abortion

[Cardiovascular effect of prostaglandin E 2 in early pregnancy].

In 10 normotensive healthy women between the 8th and 12th week of pregnancy complete cardiovascular studies were done before, during and after the intravenous administration of Prostaglandin E2 with the method of quantitative sphygmometry, unbloody measuring of the arterial blood pressure and direct electronical timing of the pulse wave velocity in the aorta. Prostaglandin E2 was infused with electric pump in the dosage of 0.65, 1.3 and 2.6 mug per minute for 30 minutes in each case. Arterial blood pressure and heart rate remains constant. Elasticity coefficient E' of the arteries and total peripheral resistance decreases, stroke volume, cardiac output, work and power of the heart increases significantly. These reactions of the cardiovascular system are much more pronounced than using Prostaglandin F2-alpha. Therefore prostaglandin E2 is characterized in relation to prostaglandin F2-alpha not only by a stronger uterine effectiveness, but also at the same time a pronounced influence on the cardiovascular system.

[Influence of low molecular dextran on the acid-base balance in mother and fetus].

9 normal pregnant women in the active phase of labor were treated with 500 ml low molecular dextrane with a pH of 4,5 under standardised external conditions. Before and after this infusion simultaneous estimations of the maternal and fetal acid-base status were made. There was neither a maternal nor a fetal acidosis.

[Influence of ethinyl estradiol sulfonate on the decreased urinary bladder tonus in the menopause].

In 40 women with hypotonic urinary bladder the influence of 17alpha-Athinyl-3-isopropyl-sulfonyloxy-Ostradiol (Athinylöstradiol) (3 X 15 mug/die without weekend) was examined concerning the intravesical pressure; The cystotonometry has been done just before as well in intervalls of 2 months during half year's period of treatment. The authors used the fill-up-cystotonometry of Hartl. The intra-vesical pressure rose significantly by the influence of Athinylöstradiolsulfonat after 2 months treatment already. In comparison to the hypotonic value before treatment there was an average normotonic urinary bladder after application of Athinylöstradiolsulfonat past 4 and 6 months. Incidence on clinical relevance of these results.

[Cardiovascular effects of nylidrin (Dilatol) in pregnancy].

8 normotensive late pregnant women were examined before, during and after the intravenous administration of nylidrin (Dilatol) with the method of quantitative sphygmometry, the bloodless graphic registration of the arterial blood pressure and the direct electronic timing of pulse wave velocity. Systolic blood pressure remains unchanged; mean and diastolic blood pressure and total peripheral resistance decrease. Simultaneously heart rate, stroke volume and above all cardiac output increase. The hemodynamic mode of action of nylidrin is a favourable one in regard to the perfusion of tissues in pregnancy, because the fall of total peripheral resistance is much more pronunciated than the decrease of blood pressure. Therefore there are no objections to a tocolytic treatment with nylidrin in normotensive pregnant women on the part of cardiovascular system.

[Falibaryt as a contrast medium].

Report about the employment of a sterile 35% barium sulphate (Falibaryt)-suspension for cystography in course of preoperative examination for correction of urinary stress incontinence. The Falibaryt-suspension was found to be an eminently suitable, harmless and cheap medium in 928 examinations. In one case the authors observed a unilateral vesico-renal reflux. By osmodiuresis with intravenous infusion of 200 ml mannitol 15% the contrast medium was removed out of the ureter and kidney's pelvic in a short time. The authors give references to make provision for retrograde instillation of barium sulphate suspensions. By consideration of these provisions the use of barium sulphate (Falibaryt)-suspension is harmless and recommended.

[Influencing bladder motility in patients with radiologicaly treated cervix cancer].

The tonometric index as an expression of the motility of the urinary bladder was determined in 37 cases of carcinoma of the uterine cervix degree II b and III only treated by contact and external irradiation before, during and after this therapy. After application of about 4000 R to the dorsal parts of the bladder the tonometric index increases to one third. 6 weeks after the end of irradiation normal values are obtained.
