[Closed chest trauma].

Problems of the clinical course, diagnostics and prophylactics of complications are discussed on the material of observation of 1533 patients with closed traumas of the chest. The program of medical measures included adequate anesthesia, measures of normalization of respiration, gas exchange and correction of metabolic alterations. Main indications to operation were as follows: continuous intrapleural hemorrhage, not effective active drainage in pneumothorax and compression of mediastinal organs. Posttraumatic complications developed in 16.60%, lethality--in 1.5%. The average time of treatment was 12 days.

[Electromyographic characteristics of the neuromuscular disorders in botulism].

The total bioelectrical activity of the muscles of the upper extremities as well as the neuromuscular transmission were examined in 30 patients with botulism at various stages of the disease. A picture of low-amplitude interference electromyogram was revealed. The results of stimulation electromyography pointed to a peculiar disorder of the neuromuscular transmission associated with a defect in the mediator release. Dynamic clinical and electromyographic observations pointed to a long period of the motor function restoration in convalescents.

[Functional results of surgical treatment of thyroid diseases in children and adolescents].

Under investigation were functional results of the surgical treatment of different diseases of the thyroid gland in children and juveniles. The assessment of the physical, sexual, psychoemotional development was made in remote terms (from 1 to 15 years). High rate of malignization of the nodular goiter requires choice of the optimal time for surgery in cases with adenomatous goiter, the development of hypothyrosis in patients with low functional activity of the thyroid adenoma making early operations necessary independent of the age.

[Clinical characteristics, selection of the method and results of treatment of nonspecific spontaneous pneumothorax].

Under observation were 144 patients, aged from 16 to 74 years, examined and treated for nonspecific spontaneous pneumothorax observed in 161 cases. Most patients (96) were under 40. The development of pneumothorax in most of them might be related with previously suffered diseases of the respiratory tract and lung. The clinical picture of spontaneous pneumothorax and its therapy are described.

[Non-enzymatic glycosylation of dietary proteins by glucose and fructose].

Preliminary evaluation of glucose and fructose as glycosylation agents of some animal and vegetable food proteins has been presented. The study was conducted using the method of radioactive indicators. It has been shown that fructose binds proteins to a higher degree than glucose, and it can make for increasing glucose glycosylating activity in their combination in the product.
