In a retrospective study of 463 stationary urethral-pressure profiles the coherence between clinical relevant changes of the urethral pressure and bladder instability is discussed. It is shown, that clinical important pressure changes in the stationary urethral-pressure profile appear significantly more frequently in female patients with signs of bladder instability. The results and the definition of urethral-pressure changes are compared with the literature.
Two collectives of patients of the I. Gynecological-obstetrical clinic Praha/CSSR suffering from cervical cancer are examined after abdominal radical hysterectomy Wertheim-Meigs. Group 1 contained 125 women treated in the years 1957 to 1966, group 2 included 89 women undergoing the operation in the years 1981 to 1986. In group 2 we found a lower rate of perioperative injuries and early and late disturbances of the urinary tract following radical hysterectomy. This may be a result of more careful preparation of the ureter and intensive postoperative care. We examined 56 women of group 2 by urodynamics. There are statistical significant changes of the maximum urethral pressure and bladder compliance after the operation. This values returned to normal limits with increasing distance between operation and follow-up.

In order to characterize physicochemical properties of binders rheological behaviour, wetting ability and film-formation tendency of the binder solutions were investigated. The results obtained were related to granule and tablet properties.

In a retrospective analysis 228 patients suffering from ovarian carcinoma were investigated. They had been treated at the Dept. of Gynecology of Jena from 1974 up to 1983. We determined remission rate, remission time, and 5-year survival. Conclusions of our analysis are the following: The incidence and 5-year survival of patients suffering from ovarian cancer are nearly constant during the time interval obtained in this study. Survival will be determined by 38%. Early stages (I and II) were treated only by operation while patients suffering from higher stages (III and IV) were undergone chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy. We obtained value of the remission rate and the 5-year survival rate, comparable to these reported in literature.

Dissolution testing of hydrophobic powders with the flow-through method but without powder preparation doesn't guarantee accurate, reproducible and reasonable results in aqueous test media of high surface tension. Mixing drug powders with seasand or using fast desintegrating granules enables an exact determination and realistic valuation of the dissolution behaviour. Addition of surfactants generally accelerates the dissolution rate but problems as drug agglomeration and flotation remain.

The influence of submicellar surfactants in the dissolution media on drug liberation from commercial products was investigated (paddle-method, flow through-method). The results depend on the product tested and the tester used. Addition of surfactants accelerates, retards or doesn't alter in vitro liberation with the paddle-method, accelerates or doesn't influence flow through-liberation. Equivalence of the release profiles of the individual products with both testers was proved. Addition of surfactants may alter in vitro drug release from commercial products but should be compulsory only when (improved) in vivo-in vitro correlation was demonstrated.
In this paper we present the base history of a 49 years old patient suffering from acute bladder outlet obstruction caused by a large leiomyofibroma of the perivesical connective tissue. We discuss our experiences with the results reported by literature. We conclude that the team work of urologists and gynecologists was very important to cure this women.
In this paper we demonstrate a case history of a 26 year old woman with an urethral injury. Primarily she suffered from urinary incontinence. Colporrhaphia anterior and vesicopexia sec. BALL were performed. Urethral injury occurred after this operation while postoperative catheterization was performed. Diagnostic and therapeutic management of this complication are reported. Pre- and postoperative urodynamical and urethrocystographical details are described, too.
In this article, the method used to record rectoanal rest and stress patterns is described. With reference to sample graphs and tabulated results, normal values in continent women are demonstrated. Results are discussed together with references in the literature.
Aside from parasympatheticolytis, calcium antagonists, musculotropic relaxants and tricyclic antidepressants, beta 2-sympatheticomimetics are also used in the treatment of urgency. The beta 2-sympatheticomimetic Clenbuterol, which has relatively slight cardiological side effects, was administered per os to 30 women. Prior to and six weeks after the commencement of daily medication with 2 x 20 micrograms of Clenbuterol, the therapeutic effect of the drug was tested by means of a urogynecological examination (history, gynecological findings, cystometrography, urethrocystometrography, uroflowmetry and pretherapeutic urethrocystometrography). An improvement rate of 65% was found. The parameters of urethrocystometrography and uroflowmetry were not altered under medication with Clenbuterol. Cystometrographic parameters, on the other hand, improved (minimal desire to urinate, maximal desire to urinate, compliance). The results of this study are discussed with reference to the literature. For the beta 2-sympatheticomimetic Clenbuterol, a good level of efficacy can be established in women patients on whom parasympatheticolytics alone failed to have a satisfactory effect.
Solubility and dissolution rate of the benzodiazepine derivatives chlordiazepoxide, diazepam, medazepam, nitrazepam and clonazepam has been improved by adding polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP K 30). Increasing concentrations of the carrier as well as the preparation of coprecipitates usually supported the effect (less physical mixtures). Regarding to the dissolution PVP has a positive effect on the initial phase of dissolution particularly. Under the experimental conditions described an interaction between drugs and carrier was revealed increasing with the concentration of PVP. These interactions were of endothermic character. Connections between dissolution and binding results were evident. Differential thermal analysis and x-ray diffractometric studies probably refer to a partial amorphous form of the drugs, especially in coprecipitates with a higher concentration of PVP.
