[The problem of multiple malignomas].

It is reported on three female patients who fell ill with a second and third tumour, respectively, within 4 years. The cases in question were spontaneous neoformations, since risk factors, such as radiotherapy and applications of cytostatics were not used causally.

[Bone involvement in chronic myelocytic leukemia].

It is reported on the 4-year course of a disease in a patient with chronic myeloic leukemia in whom after three years an unusual affection of the bones in the distal thigh developed. Apart from this the differential-diagnostic difficulties are discussed: fibrosis of the bone marrow--chronic myeloic leukaemia--Paget's disease metastasis of a squamous cell carcinoma.

[Complications of percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography].

It is reported on complications which appeared in the percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography performed in n = 130. The complications were subdivided into 1. Complications at immediate performance of the intervention. 2. complications which are to be observed in radiology, 3. complications which became conspicuous in the operation which immediately followed the intervention, 4. complications in the observation of the course in non-operated patients, 5. complications by the percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography in an operation which was performed at a later time. There did not appear any severe complications which burdened the intervention, particularly no bilious peritonitides or severe haemorrhages. None of the changes observed led to the interruption of the intervention. The conclusion is drawn that the percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography is a method of the morphological diagnostics of the biliary ducts which is poor in risk.

Molecular cloning of the actin gene from yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

Two overlapping DNA fragments from yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae containing the actin gene have been inserted into pBR322 and cloned in E.coli. Clones were identified by hybridization to complementary RNA from a plasmid containing a copy of Dictyostelium actin mRNA. One recombinant plasmid obtained (pYA102) contains a 3.93-kb Hindlll fragment, the other (pYA208) a 5.1-kb Pstl fragment, both share a common 2.2-kb fragment harboring part of the actin gene. Cloned yeast actin DNA was identified by R-loop formation and translation of the hybridized actin mRNA and by DNA sequence analysis. Cytoplasmic actin mRNA has been estimated to be about 1250 nucleotides long. There is only one type of the actin gene in S.cerevisiae.

[Experience with percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography].

After description of the technical performance of the percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography is reported on experiences with this method. 114 examinations were performed and in 87.6% the bile ducts were described. The result of the percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography confirmed itself in 85% of the patients, in 10% the diagnosis dilated itself according to the result of the operation, and in 5% the diagnosis had to be changed. In 12.4% no biliary duct could be punctured, among them were 10 anicteric patients. The reflux technique described has a high number of impact and a good evidence in the morphological differentiation of the obstruction syndrome. It seems not indicated for anicteric patients. Indications, contraindications and the comparison of the examination method to the ERC are described. The percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography may be used with simple apparative and instrumental means.

[QKD-time in thyroid-gland function diagnosis].

In altogether 205 patients with euthyroidism, hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism the QKD-time was determined. With the help of this examination should be tested whether by means of this simple functional test of the cardiac circulation indirectly is possible also a judgment of the function of the thyroid gland. Essentially in the calculated mean values a differentiation between euthyroidism, hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism could be made statistically. Since between the individual groups considerable overlappings of the individual values occur the exactness of the test is very much restricted in the preliminary diagnostics of diseases of the thyroid gland. We are of the opinion that the QKD-time is insufficient for the judgment of the function of the thyroid gland.

[Hepatogenic ascites].

In the paper the intrahepatic (hydrostatic pressure and colloid-osmotic pressure) and extrahepatic (hepatogenic aldosterolism and portosystemic collateralisation) factors effective in the development of an ascites were described and the frequency was tested on own clinical material. The hydrostatic pressure relations are presented as the most essential genetic factor in the development of ascites for hepatogenic reason.

[Immunosuppressive treatment of progressive chronic polyarthritis].

After description of forms and possibilities of the immunsuppression the results of this therapy are discussed in 47 own patients with clinically and paraclinically ascertained rheumatoid arthritis. The patients received the sum of 4.0 mg trenimon in combination with altogether 4.0 mg cyclophosphamide by means of 20 infusions with physiological saline solution as carrier substance. Under this treatment in 93.6% of the cases the findings of the examination of joints or the clinical stage improved. As to side effects incompatibilities on the side of the gastro-intestinal tract as well as leucopenias were observed. 18 patients could be after-examined after 6 years. Whilst in every case the clinical stage deteriorated, in the majority the degree of activity remained unchanged. All the results are compared with the results reported in literature. The authors are of the opinion that, when other forms of treatment have no success and contraindication are strongly taken into consideration, the progressing of the rheumatoid arthritis can be retarded by means of immunsuppressives. The pathophysiological processes can, however, scarcely be influenced causally.

[Information value of 2 color tests in the determination of alanine and aspartate-aminotransferases in liver and biliary tract diseases].

On the basis of examinations of altogether 197 patients the results of the changes of GOT and GPT were compared with the old and new colour tests of the AWD Dresden in normal histology, virus hepatitis, fatty liver, liver cirrhosis and posthepatic occlusion. Though the new colour test reveals a higher sensitivity, the differential diagnosis between selected liver diseases, especially virus hepatitis and posthepatic occlusion syndrome have become more difficult. The cause for this is the less significant separability between the individual regions of reference.
