[Histological findings on the relation between elastosis and breast neoplasms and dysplasia].

Connective tissue changes with particular reference to elastosis in malignant and dysplastic breasts are studied. Hyperelastosis was closely associated with carcinoma particular with scirrhous type also in the perineoplastic area; on the contrary the percentage of the phenomena in benign displastic disease is significantly low. Elastosis was located around carcinomatous tissue, mammary neoplastic ducts and also around veins and as scattered foci in the stroma. The site of production of elastic fibers is discussed. Elastosis accompanying carcinoma is considered more than a simple association but its prognostic significance has not an absolute value.

[Histologic study of 3 cases of so-called tubular adenoma of the testis].

Three cases of so called tubular adenoma in cryptorchid subjects are reported. The histological findings were tubules with a particularly small diameter containing Sertoli cells (similar to the precursor type). No elastic fibres were present in the basement membrane giving a picture similar to last term fetal and neonatal testicles. These findings are regarded as hypoplastic foci of tubules which have not developed. The relationship between Pick's adenoma and malignant Sertoli cells neoplasia is also discussed.

[Histochemical investigation on the mechanism of action of a synthetic mucolytic compound (Na 872 Cl): preliminary results].

A histochemical study about mucolytic capacity of Na872Cl compound revealed its action upon epitelial mucins of mouse colonic and tracheal mucosa but the results depend on the chemical type of fixative employed (formalin or acetone fixed sections); the mode of action especially regarding the influence of fixatives and the nature of sensitive substrates are discussed.

Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in the gluteal region: a case report.

The infiltration of the skeletal muscles on the part of lymphomatous cells is rarely reported and only histological examination can reveal it. Based on a review of the literature, it is the purpose of this study to describe a rare case of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma with muscular invasion, characterized by voluminous swelling in the left gluteal region, in a female aged 60 years who was completely asymptomatic. Biopsy and immunohistochemistry alone allowed us to diagnose non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. It is the purpose of this study to document the existence of NHL with musculoskeletal localization, emphasizing the morphological features and the site, as well as hypothesizing that wide-margin surgery can constitute a valid therapeutic aid for such extralymphonodal forms, that are particularly large and with a single localization.
