[Retinometer examinations in cataract patients (author's transl)].

Using the retinometer after Rassow and Wolf (Rodenstock) retinal visual acuity was determined preoperatively in 71 patients with senile cataract. In general the measured value corresponded with postoperative visual acuity. In 26 of the 71 cases, however, there was a discrepancy of more than 50% between the two measurements. This discrepancy was found in patients with clear ocular media almost as frequently (42 of 126 eyes).

[Influence of an unilateral anophthalmos on the ophthalmo-dynamography (author's transl)].

In 30 patients with unilateral postoperative anophthalmos, by means of the ophthalmodynamograph model ODG 22 (Boucke) a bilateral ophthalmodynamography (Hager) was performed. The systolic and diastolic pressure of the ophthalmic artery showed no significant difference between the sides without and with the eyeball. The pulsation volume was, however, on the side of anophthalmos (97.9 mm3 in average) slightly, but significantly (p less than 0.05) decreased than the opposite side (103.7 mm3).

[Orthostatic cephalic hypotension and the eye (author's transl)].

The pressure in the ophthalmic artery was measured during change of posture from the lying position to the sitting position by means of Muller's ophthalmodynamometer. In 210 healthy individuals there was a fall of average pressure between 0 and 21 percent. In 89 patients having a certainly pathological fluctuation of 25 percent or more which could not be found in the brachial pressure. Such patients did not only have general orthostatic symptoms but also various ocular symptoms.

[Echographic studies in cases of excentric posterior scleral ectasias (author's transl)].

Excentric posterior scleral ectasias are rarely recognized correctly. They can cause uncharacteristic visual disturbances and refractive scotomas, which may cause a mis-diagnosis of bitemporal hemianopia. In this report 10 such cases are shown. The diagnosis was verified by the ultrasonographic measurement of the meridional length of the eye. Posterior scleral ectasias of maximum 4.5 mm were found.
