Echinococcus taenia occurs in human accidentally after contamination by infected dust of dog. Although it may localize in all parts of the body as a hydatic cyst, liver, lung and kidney are the most frequent sites. Intra-orbital localization is rare since all statistical studies estimate it to be one per cent of orbital tumours. Using computerized axial tomography (C.A.T. Scanner) ten cases of intra-orbital hydatic cyst originating from Algiers, Tunis Hospitals and C.N.O. des Quinze-Vingts of Paris were studied. The inclusion of C.A.T. scanning in the orbital evaluation enables more positive preoperative diagnosis and facilitates the choice of the most efficient surgical approach.
The authors report ten cases of metacarpophalangeal calcifications in chondrocalcinosis. These calcifications are associated with a calcification of the triangular ligament of the wrist in the all cases. Cartilaginous calcifications of the wrist are found in 9 cases. Metacarpophalangeal calcifications concern mostly the third (9 cases) and the second (6 cases) metacarpophalangeal joint. They are present frequently on radial side (29 joints) rarely on cubital side (5 joints) with a calcification on radial and cubital side in 4 joints and a calcification on cubital side only in one joint. Calcic deposit concern almost the synovial and capsule, it is rarely cartilaginous one. The authors discuss the possibility of calcic deposit of the glenoidal fibrocartilage of the metacarpophalangeal joint.
Parasitic diseases involving brain and orbit are relatively rare in Tunisia; the most frequently encountered is the hydatid cyst, 55 examples of which were seen since CT scanning was introduced into Tunisia 2 years ago. Various aspects of the intracerebral and orbital hydatid cysts are reported and a tentative classification is made based on characteristics revealed by CT.
A case of Thibierge-Weissenbach's syndrome is reported in a woman with very advanced generalized scleroderma, telangiectases, subcutaneous calcinosis, and a Raynaud's syndrome. Atypical radiological appearances were noted: intra-articular calcinosis of the radioulnar, metacarpo-phalangeal, and metatarso-phalangeal joints. The published literature is reviewed.

Hypertrophic osteoarthropathy in a child is reported. It is caused by intrathoracic suppuration secondary to costal osteomyelitis. After antibiotherapy complete resolution of arthropathy, clubbing and periostitis is obtained. The literature is reviewed.

Transverse fractures of the sacrum with major displacement are rare and often misdiagnosed. A case of transverse fracture of the sacrum with cauda equina injury is reported. The diagnosis was not recognized initially. Conventional radiographs of the pelvis failed to demonstrate the fracture. True lateral sacral views and CT scan with reconstructions allowed analysis of the different sagittal fracture lines to facilitate surgical planning. These examinations should be considered in all patients with history of high energy trauma and clinical signs indicating lumbosacral injury.
