The problem of electromagnetic tomographic reconstruction is approached in terms of the derivation of a minimum norm interpolator, incorporating a priori knowledge gained from a previous reconstruction. An algorithm is suggested for the initial estimate and both images are compared to that of bilinear interpolation.

A correct diagnosis of progressive muscle dystrophy type Duchenne is important for consultation of the family of patients. The muscles of neck, shoulder, back, pelvis and legs of 23 patients were examined by computed tomography. The density of selected muscles were measured and compared with that of normal probands. Typical changes in the density-pattern were found. It is show, that the measurement of the density-pattern of muscles in pelvis and legs is sufficient for a sure diagnosis of progressive muscle dystrophy Duchenne.

For the classification of various brain tumours data from 139 patients with histologically proven diagnosis were used. With linear discriminant analysis and hierarchic classification of clinical and anamnestic data and features obtained by Walsh-transformation of image data presently 7 classes of tumours are differentiated with an estimated classification rate of 85% and reclassification rate of 92%.
40 labour employed with the production of polyurethan had been subject to a subtile, clinical, neurological, psychological and neuropsychological examination. Troubles of the respiratory and the gastrointestinal tracts had been predominantly, neurasthenic symptoms had been registered in 22.5%. It is recommended to perform in all the exposed labour a neurological basis examination and to utilize the psychological-neurological inquiry (PNF).

34 children with extrapyramidal hyperkinesis were treated with Tiaprid. With 22 children the extrapyramidal syndromes could be reduced considerably or disappeared. A reduction of vigilance in the phase of adjustment was the only side effect.

On the basis of clinical material consisting of 147 brain tumors, the authors carry out a comparative investigation involving the site of the ensuing operation to ascertain the accuracy of the clinical and paraclinical diagnoses. Computed tomographic findings were deliberately excluded with the intention of focusing on the accuracy attainable by traditional means. Clinical findings, X-ray examination of the skull, ophthalmological findings, electroencephalographic and echoencephalographic data, nuclear diagnosis, and angiographic findings were all taken into account.
For the diagnostics of obliterating vascular changes in the supraaortic area the invasive diagnostics of the vessels is not to be renounced now as before. The indication to the angiographic investigation results from clinical, perfusion-scintigraphic and Doppler-sonographic-findings. Of 390 patients 289 pathological angiographic findings in the supraaortic vascular area. In 101 patients normal findings were stated. Altogether 509 individual pathological findings were represented. In the comparison of the results of the investigations in the various diagnostic methods the clinical neurological investigation showed itself as particularly evident method. It should be decisive for the indication to the invasive diagnostics. The correspondence between the angiographic findings and the result of the perfusion-scintigraphic and Doppler-sonographic investigations, respectively, was the greater the more expressed the extracranial vascular findings represented themselves. In 127 patients with multiple obliterating vascular changes the size of the pathological changes and their localization could be established only angiographically.

Various nerve conduction velocities, the terminal latency (TL) of facial nerve, the trigeminofacial reflex and fast auditory evoked potentials (FAEP) were investigated in 26 patients with peroneal muscular atrophy (22 with HMSN I and 4 with HMSN II). With the brain nerve status revealing no clinical abnormalities, 85.7% of HMSN I patients showed a longer-than-normal TL of the facial nerve, 66.6% had a prolonged early reflex component of trigeminofacial reflex and 22.7% pathological FAEPs. Normal neurophysiologic findings were obtained for brain nerves of HMSN II subjects. Subclinical involvement of the mid-group of brain nerves did not at all correlate with the impairment of extremity nerves and the duration of the disease. The present results reflect the heterogeneity of HMSN.
A brief account is given of the aetiology and pathophysiology of the compartmental syndrome. Without decompression, acute compartmental syndrome causes irreversible muscle necrosis after six hours. Immediate diagnosis and therapeutic action are, therefore, imperative. Chronic courses are rare and are, probably, not unambiguously identifiable. Compartmental syndrome of the anterior tibial zone, when misinterpreted and taken for a muscular hernia, may lead to the development of acute compartmental syndrome with all its complications, once the fascia has been closed. Surgical opinion is discussed on the basis of the above case history.
Percutaneous angioplasty is a well-established method of treating arterial stenoses and occlusions in various regions. In the carotid area this technique is still under discussion. The successful application of angioplasty in eight patients with carotid artery stenoses is reported.
