A cytogenetic study of the nuclear material of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae as it appears during mitosis was undertaken using a technique which combines light and electron microscopic examination of spheroplasts. Condensation of chromatin into separate chromosomes is observed. The most frequent chromosome number counted is 18.
180 students without pathological psychic findings, 233 students with psychic disturbances, 168 internal patients with vegetative disturbances and 231 patients with progressive chronic polyarthritis were interrogated with the VELA-questionnaire of Fahrenberg and the ENR-questionnaire according to Brengelmann and Brengelmann. Compared with the normal group all other groups had significantly higher VELA-values. The combination E less than 10, N greater then 26 was found in students without pathological psychic findings in 2.8%, in patients with rheumatism in 7.4%, in internal patients in 21.4% and in students with psychic disturbances in 24.1%. With this combination and another one with extreme values 5.1% of the comparative group, 9.6% of the patients with somatic diseases and approximately 61.4% of the patients with a high number of vegetative complaints are suspicious of a psychic disturbance which must be treated.
In this paper is described a calculating disk for the percental deviation from the Broca-weight. By exact references to the mathematical derivation and to the construction a practical use is striven for.

A technique for the visualization of chromatid exchange in human chromosomes is described. Additon of the base analogue 5-bromodeoxyuridine (BUdR) into PHA stimulated lymphocyte cultures and subsequent staining with the benzimidazol compound "33258 Hoechst", and Giemsa, results in differential fluorescence or staining of sister chromatids in second division metaphases. This technique allows an accurate scoring of sister chromatid exchanges, and could be used in the evaluation of the effect of external agents on the induction of previously unrecognized chromatid exchanges in human chromosomes.
