From researches conducted in Institute Pasteur in Madagascar and from bibliographical work, the authors try to draw up a general picture of the pathology of lemurs. Several aspects are developed (bacteriology, hematology, mycology, parasitology, virology), especially those which could be interesting for human pathology, for instance the relationships between lemurs and viruses because of the arbovirus programme in progress in Institute Pasteur. The authors emphasize on the possible use of lemurs, the only non human primate in Madagascar, as laboratory animals in order to develop colonies and, then, to promote their conservation.
The authors report three cases of mycosic subcutaneous cysts and study the problem of the phaeo-sporotrichosis, a cystic lesion due to dematies brown fungi which are often introduced under the skin by a sting. Because of the absence of brown pigmentation of the fungi present in the three cases reported, the authors propose to group these various cysts under the name of "syndrome of the mycosic cysts" a part of which only being constituted by the phaeosporo trichosis. They emphasize the importance to draw surgeons' attention on such lesions, a priori clinically banal, and pathologists' attention on Gomori-Grocott staining in tropical countries.

First in Madagascar, a new drug the RP 35972 (Oltipraz) was used for the treatment of Schistosomiasis mansoni. clinical investigations confirm that any toxic action by this drug was observed. Oltipraz in doses of 25-35 mg/kg body weight was tried in 123 bilharzial patients. The authors obtained a percentage of cure of 90% in the 109 controlled cases and concluded Oltipraz to have been the most satisfactory treatment.
The authors report a case of histoplasmosis with H. duboisii authenticated by an histopathologic examination, serology on cross-section. The patient, a 22 year old man from comorian ascent had never left Madagascar and was working on a sugar-cane plantation. He was carrier of ulcerated and suppurated lesions in the inguinal folds and the ombilic and was to die without having received a proper treatment. It is the first case of great form histoplasmosis noticed in Madagascar, outside Continental Africa, geographical distribution area attributed until today to H. duboisii.
Concerning respectively 93 observations got in the laboratory of "Pathology" of the Institut Pasteur (from 1954 to 1976) and the laboratory of "Pathology" of the Hospital of Befelatanana, Tananarive (from 1960 to 1975) the authors would like to point out to the medical doctors the pseudo-tumoral aspects of the bilharziasis due to Schistosoma mansoni. 1(0) The pseudo-tumoral aspects of the intestinal bilharziasis are relatively seldom complications of this parasitosis. 2(0) The malignant macroscopical aspect of these pseudo-tumors added to an often alarming symptomatology, if not possible association of cancer and bilharziosis, often brings mistakes in diagnosis. 3(0) Therefore and especially in endemic areas, biopsy is required or at least a medical proof treatment, before any surgical act at least with children or young people, in case of malignant pseudo-tumor which is actually but a bilharziasis.
