The Copenhagen Telephone Company uses 800,000-900,000 sets of no carbon required paper per year. Since 1977 the employees have related itching, dermatitis and symptoms from the mucous membranes to contact with the paper. In 35 employees a total of 4000 epicutaneous tests were performed with negative results. A questionnaire study of 2400 in the company revealed a close relationship between the symptoms and the work intensity with the NCR paper.

In a double-blind within-patient clinical trial in psoriasis, budesonide 0.025% ointment has been shown to be at least as efficient as betamethasone-17-valerate 0.1% ointment. A lower concentration of budesonide ointment, 0.01%, was used for 4 weeks of maintenance treatment. This concentration controlled residual symptoms well in a majority of the patients, thirty-two in number.

We compared the Danish 8-MOP brand Meladinine with the Austrial brand Oxsoralen because of our discouraging result with PUVA in treating psoriasis. Nine healthy volunteers participated in the investigation. The plasma level of 8-MOP was measured by a gas chromatogrpahic-mass spectrometric method using isotopic dilution technique. The level obtained with Oxsoralen was on the average 5.8 times higher than that with Meladinine.
Thirty-six of 37 veterinary surgeons with incapacitating dermatitis had allergic contact dermatitis, mainly from antibiotics such as spiramycin, Penethamate BP and tylosin. Eight were sensitive to rubber materials. Twenty of 36 had positive prick or scratch tests, mainly to animal hair. The atopic sensitivities were relevant to the contact dermatitis since most of those who have them develop contact reactions from cows' hair and from obstetric work with cows. Protein contact dermatitis seems to be an important predisposing factor for the development of incapacitating allergic contact dermatitis in veterinary surgeons.

Intolerance to individual substances was first described by Bateman 1817. The modern concept of allergic contact dermatitis was based on studies by Block, who also introduced the diagnostic patch testing 1910. Clinical studies in the 1930's established the frequency of allergic contact dermatitis and the common sensitizers. Irritant dermatitis was not understood until the last decades. The occupational dermatoses were largely neglected until the introduction of social security in 1912. Later many studies have been devoted to this field. Most important in the preventive work has been the establishment of sub-specialized departments of occupational dermatology.
Few studies of topical treatment in acne stand up to modern scientific requirements, and several of those which do suggest that some modalities make acne worse rather than better. There is evidence that sulphur, soap, and light treatment prolong the course of illness. This also applies to some components of the vehicles used for acne medicaments. Fortunately, traditional treatment can be abandoned in favour of the superior benzoyl peroxide and retinoic acid.

Benzocaine-reactive patients were patch tested to two commercial sources of glyceryl p-aminobenzoate containing varying concentrations of benzocaine as a contaminant. Eleven of 20 reacted to the source with approximately 0.3% benzocaine; none reacted to the source with approximately 0.001% benzocaine.
