[Abrikosov's tumor of the tongue associated with a sialometaplasia lesion].

One case of Abrikossof's tumor of the tongue associated with sialometaplasia is reported. The autors discuss the histogenesis of the granular-cell tumor. Actually, most of the autors agree to acknowledge a neurogene origin of the tumor: the typical granular cell of the myoblastoma, first described by Abrikossof, would originate from the schwann's cell, due to the ultrastructural morphological likeness of these cells with the phagocytic form of the schwann's cell.

[Microscopy of the thymus in the perinatal period].

Simple complementary staining technics are useful to reveal some histological particularities which may be underestimated and unsuspected when are used routinal stainings only. Parallel to hematoxylin eosin, it is recommended to investigate the macrophagic cells by their soudanophilic properties on frozen sections, their ceroid like autofluorescent content by PAS and by paraldehyde fuchsin after oxidation. Eosinophils are constant in the thymus during the neonatal period. They result from a local eosinophilopoiesis. They are contrasted by chromotrope 2R or by anilin blue on ultraviolet light. Semi quantitative determination of cellular density and the importance of the macrophagic activity in the cortex are necessary to definite different stages of thymic atrophy. Anatomoclinical correlations demonstrate relations existing between different degrees of thymic atrophy and duration of illness.

[Myeloma and hypereosinophilic leukemoid reaction (author's transl)].

In a 56-year-old man with a myeloma marked eosinophilia was discovered. The diagnosis of myeloma was made on the discovery of plasmocyte infiltration in the mandible. Despite surgery and chemotherapy, general bone infiltration by plasma cells occurred over 15 months. The leukocyte count rose to 226,000/mm3 with 162,720 mature eosinophils. Pathogenic problems suggested by such an unusual association (myeloma-eosinophilic leukemoid reaction) are considered.
