[Spinal cord angioma].

A 35 years old male began to show, 16 years after a transient paraplegia, the neurological signs of a multifocal damage of the spinal cord, which progressed slowly and irregularly over a period of several months. The diagnosis of spinal cord angioma was suspected on the basis of an increase of cerebrospinal fluid white cells and proteins, and of opaque myelography, and proved by spinal angiography. After surgical excision a transient flaccid paraplegia regressed in two weeks, substituted by a mild spastic paraparesis.

[Megacolon in a case of Steinert's myotonic dystrophy].

A case of Dystrophia Myotonica with a positive family history, cataract and myotonic bursts on EMG is reported. The patient underwent repeated respiratory infections, which were associated with an abnormal elevation of the diaphragm and with an enlargement of the colon. The frequency of pulmonary infections, which may arise many years before the appearance of neurological symptoms, is stressed. On the other hand enlargement of the colon is a rare finding. Its pathogenesis as well as therapeutic implications are discussed.
