[Need for scientific medical information by internists working in the therapeutic and prophylactic system].

A study was carried out on the necessity of scientific medical information (SMI) among the internists, engaged in the practical public health care according to the methods: inquiry, collective expert evaluation and entropic. The results revealed that the scientific medical periodicals, books and drug catalogues are preferred as a source of SMI, whereas the secondary sources indexes, surveys, congress materials are less known and used. Of occupational and scientific interest is the scientific information on the fresh news of the methods about: a) diagnostics; b) treatment and c) new drugs. The inquired physicians gave the priority to addressed and current information. Sixty one per cent of them spend 60 min. weekly in retrieving the necessary SMI, and 40 per cent--over 240 min weekly, processing the relevant literature found.

[Differential provision of scientific medical information to the management and specialists in a hospital].

A research was carried out, of the order of an experiment, on the activity of DIPM for active provision with scientific medical drug and technical information of the management personnel and specialties from the hospital for governmental officials. The main functions of the system are indicated, affording information on 10 problems with 196 information materials. DIPM system is a form of active addressed, information attendance, orientated according to problems affording documentary and factographic information and as a modification of information attendance in the regime IRI, it is more flexible, more effective and cheaper.

[Pregnanediol and pregnanetriol levels in the urine of rats after thymectomy].

The authors examined arterial blood pressure and excretion of pregnanetriol and pregnanediol in urine of adult male rats of Westar strain under normal conditions and after thymectomy. There was an elevation of arterial blood pressure after 45th day of thymectomy. Excretion of pregnanediol was increased on the 30th day, but that of pregnanetriol on the 60th day after removal of the gland. The increased excretion of both progesterone metabolites was connected with increased renal function, which probably played pathogenic role in postthymectomized hypertensive reaction.

[Changes in adrenocortical activity in grown rats following thymectomy].

The authors measured arterial blood pressure by direct and indirect method in 80 adult rats and examined: content of ascorbic acid and cholesterol and the activity of alkaline and acid phosphatase in adrenals after thymectomy. The indices were followed in dynamics on the 15, 30, 45, 60 and 90th day after thymectomy. The established changes, manifested by a reduced concentration of the ascorbic acid and cholesterol in the early period of the experiment and the increased phosphatase activity during the whole period were interpreted as a manifestation of elevated adrenal activity after thymectomy. Activation of the adrenal cortex preceded the hypertensive reaction.

[Experimental hypertension in rats and their adrenal activity].

The authors examined dynamically the arterial pressure and plasma activity of 11-hydroxycorticosteroids in two groups of rats with pure hypertension and with hypertension on the background of beta-adrenergic activity. There was an elevation of arterial pressure in both groups, less manifested in the rats, treated with beta blocker. The values after six months were equally high in both groups. The content of 11-hydroxycorticosteroids was increased with a maximum at the sixth month. The authors make an inference that beta blocker-obsidan lowers blood pressure, but does not affect the level of 11-hydroxycorticosteroidids in plasma.

Changes in thyrotropin, triiodothyronine, thyroxine and prolactin levels during septic shock in rats.

Inhibition of thyroid gland function and a decrease of serum prolactin content are well documented during endotoxin and septic shocks. On the fifth hour of septic shock by cecal incision, triiodothyronine and thyroxine levels are significantly decreased while the decrease in thyrotropin and prolactin are insignificant. On the 10th hour, all the hormone under study are significantly decreased.
