The course of alcoholic psychoses was juxtaposed to that of alcoholic beverages purchase in Moscow during 1984-1986. Antialcoholic measures since June, 1985, sharply decreased the number of psychoses to 33.1% of the 1984 level. Their distribution within a month has changed. The alcoholic beverages purchase in 1986 was 61.7% of that in 1984. The number of alcoholic psychoses displayed a strong correlation with the purchase level (r = +0.90). Regression analysis showed that beverages purchase reduction to 28% of the 1984 level would fully abolish the alcoholic psychoses in Moscow. The conclusion was that the alcoholic psychoses can serve as a reliable index of the effectiveness of anti-alcoholic measures.

The statistical modes of individual variability of Sarcoptes scabiei females, developed and described by the authors in two previous papers, has been used to analyze the geographic, seasonal variability and to compare the mite populations with due consideration for the clinical features of the disease. Statistically significant differences in the size and proportion of the samples were found in Moscow, the Moscow region, and the town of Bishkek in spring and summer. A relationship was revealed between the degree of the female back chetoid cover joining and the disease duration, number of burrows in the skin integument and their sites.
The variability of the naked section of the chaetoid cover of itch mite Sarcoptes scabiei De Geer females was studied. The sample used was divided into 5 grades by the number of undeveloped chaetoids. The structures surrounding the naked section, its size and dimensions of the female body were analysed in each grade of specimens. Such grade scale for describing the chaetoid cover proved to be useful for comparative analysis of human and animal forms of itch mite.
Individual variability of 235 grain mite females from Moscow and the Moscow Province was studied. The data were processed on a computer. Body proportions were used as a representative dimension index. The size of proterosomal scutellum was stable. A map of the chaetoid cover of notum is given, and its variability was studied. Statistical analysis of all signs was made. Frontal chaetoid and sejugal sections and the number of caudal chaetoids are stable. Naked, middle and abdominal chaetoid sections are the most variable. Linear sizes of naked section and the number of chaetoid sets on middle and abdominal sections correlate with the number of undeveloped chaetoids. The statistical model of variability may be useful for populational analysis of Sarcoptes forms in connection with scab epidemiology.

A peculiar effect on mitosis of RH cells of the reference Long strain and strain No. 14 of respiratory syncytial virus isolated during a rise of the incidence of acute respiratory diseases in Kharkov was observed. The Long strain affected mostly the qualitative and strain No. 14 the quantitative aspects of cell mitosis. The character of pathological mitoses under the influence of the Long strain indicated more considerable impairment of the mitotic apparatus of the cells than that caused by the strains No. 14. It is suggested that the peculiarities of the effect of the two respiratory syncytial virus strains on cell mitosis are associated with the structural and antigenic differences in the strains circulating in various geographic zones.
