[Multiple lymphocytoma at the point of puncture as complication of acupuncture treatment. Traumatic origin of lymphocytoma].

In general, side effects of acupuncture are rare and this also concerns dermatological diseases caused by acupuncture. Mostly, infectious diseases occur by inoculation of the infectious agents, especially cutaneous bacterial diseases as staphylococcal folliculitis and abscesses, favoured by insufficient sterilisation of the needles. A 34-year-old female patient is reported, who developed multiple lymphocytomata cutis over the ears in the course of an acupuncture. The tumors appeared at the insert sites of the needles and always followed the auricular acupuncture though taking place at different times. During the past the connection between different traumata and lymphocytoma cutis has been stressed several times and in the same way this case report underlines the etiological hetrogeneity of this peculiar inflammatory reaction type.

[Naeviform porokeratosis - only a morphologic variant of porokeratosis of Mibelli (author's transl)].

Linear unilateral porokeratosis has been regarded as a distinct variant of porokeratosis of Mibelli, because of linear arrangement of the lesions, lacking inheritance and the beginning in early childhood. A 39 year old woman with porokeratosis of Mibelli in naeviform distribution is described. It is shown, that naeviform porokeratosis has to be considered only as a morphologic variant of Porokeratosis of Mibelli.

[Simulation of malignant tumors by undeclared polyvinylpyrrolidone in drugs].

Numerous drugs are available containing polyvinylpyrrolidone as a carrier and retard substance. Repeated intramuscular or subcutaneous injections of polyvinylpyrrolidone over a long time can lead to tumor-like foreign body reactions mimicking true malignant tumors by clinical and histological features. Additionally, a storage of polyvinylpyrrolidone in visceral organs is possible in such patients.

[The histamine-release test, a new in-vitro method in the diagnosis of allergic diseases (author's transl)].

Liberation of histamine from autologous basophils after stimulation with antihuman IgE and various allergen solutions was measured, in part by autoanalyser, in 47 patients with allergic bronchial asthma or allergic rhinitis. Three patients were non-responders: there was no histamine release after stimulation. In the other patients, both antihuman IgE and the allergen solutions produced a definite histamine release, in such a way that at higher concentrations there occurred an inhibitory effect with both antihuman IgE and the antigen mixture. But this effect disappeared with increasing dilution, giving a bell-like dose-response curve. The test is thus of value also in the diagnosis of allergic conditions.

[Concurrence of lichen planus pemphigoides and ulcerative colitis (author's transl)].

Lichen planus belongs to the group of frequent skin diseases. Therefore, the concurrence with other diseases might be expected by chance. However, the bullous form of lichen planus is a rare disease and for this variant a coincidence with malignant diseases, tumors and systemic diseases, has been reported. Additionally, in the last decade the association of lichen planus respectively lichen planus pemphigoides and diseases accompanied with or caused by immunologic dysfunction has been pointed out. This concerns lupus erythematosus, myasthenia gravis, and ulcerative colitis, diseases, which are accompanied by circulating organ-specific antibodies. A further patient is reported who developed a lichen planus pemphigoides consecutively to an ulcerative colitis.

[Pruritus and bile acids. Determination of sulfalithoglycocholate and glycocholate in suction blister fluid and in serum (author's transl)].

Until now is not clear, whether bile acids play a role in hepatogenic pruritus in patients with cholestasis. A correlation between serum levels and itching does not exist, and therefore an accumulation of bile acids in the skin was made responsible for the etiology of pruritus. However, this could not be proved in skin homogenisates whereas bile acids were found accumulated in the surface lipids of the skin. For this reason, the investigations presented here deal with the determination of glycocholate and sulfalithoglycocholate in suction blister fluid and in serum. The levels of these bile acids were remarkably lower in the fluid of the subepidermally located blisters than in the serum. No significant difference was found between the group of patients with pruritus and cholestasis and the group without cholestasis. These results show that an accumulation of bile acids in the skin does not exist. A correlation between bile acids in the skin and pruritus cannot be proved.

Increased frequency of multiple primary melanomas in hereditary familial melanoma.

Multiple primary melanomas can be observed in a frequency of 1-4% in melanoma patients, while they obviously occur more frequently in hereditary familial melanoma. In every 8th patient with an--in itself rare--hereditary familial melanoma a development of two or more primary melanomas has to be expected. Casuistically, a family is reported where a 14-year-old girl died of malignant melanoma, whose mother later on developed two primary malignant melanomas in an interval of 2 years.

[Furuncular myiasis caused by Dermatobia hominis larva].

The imported tropical dermatoses include the various manifestations of dermal myiasis. Cases of the furuncular form of cutaneous myiasis are infrequently seen and occur much more seldom than creeping eruption. Nearly exclusively furuncular lesions appear after infestation with the larvae of Dermatobia hominis, the human botfly, in Central and South America and with the larvae of the tumbu-fly, Cordylobia anthropophaga, in tropical Africa. We had the opportunity to see a patient, who had acquired furuncular myiasis due to Dermatobia hominis in Bolivia and the emergence of his fully developed larvae.

[Extrapalmoplantar skin symptoms and additional clinical, etiological and immunological aspects in particular, in Papillon-Lefevre syndrome].

Numerous patients with Papillon-Lefèvre syndrome show scaly erythematous lesions over knees, elbows and the interphalangeal joints additionally to the well known palmo-plantar hyperkeratosis. Not rarely, these skin symptoms are misdiagnosed as psoriasis. The obligatory and highly specific periodontitis marginalis profunda should lead to the correct diagnosis. A basic immune defect, which was shown in such a patient recently, could not be verified in the patient described here.
