[Aneurism in a persisting sciatic artery. One case (author's transl)].

The authors report on the first case of aneurism in a persisting sciatic artery observed in France. The condition was complicated by truncular embolism and fissuration and was successfully treated by endo-aneurismorrhaphy. Restoration of arterial continuity is nevertheless necessary in most cases of aneurysm affecting a complete persistant sciatic artery (providing the vascular supply for the whole lower limb) which represents the commonest anatomical type.

The effect of tricyclic antidepressants (TA) on the circulatory system in primary arterial hypertension.

The cardio-vascular reactions after i.m. application of 0.4 mg/kg of TA (imipramine, amitryptyline and nortryptyline) were compared in normotonics and patients suffering from essential hypertonia. It was found, that systolic blood pressure decreased significantly after the drugs only in hypertonic patients, whereas diastolic blood pressure fall was marked more in the normotonic group. In both groups, no apparent changes in heart action were noticed after the drugs. The TA caused a stronger increase of urine excretion of NE, E, VMA and NMN and MN in hypertonics than in normotonics.

[The effect of mepyramine and 48/80 on the histamine content of pleural exudates in the rat].

The influence of pretreatment with the antihistaminic, mepyramine, or with the histamine liberator 48/80 was studied on the volume and the histamine content of pleural exudates induced in rats by intrapleural injection of turpentine, silver nitrate or carrageenan. The fluorometric determination of histamine was performed in the exudates collected at different times after injection of the irritant. In control animals the histamine levels were different from those previously found by the authors using biological assays. In rats pretreated with mepyramine or compound 48/80, the effects observed varied according to the nature of the irritant used to induce pleurisy.

The influence of premedication with 6-OH-dopamine and long-term administration of thymoanaleptics on development of experimental arterial hypertension.

Administration of 6-OH-DA into the lateral cerebral ventricle did not prevent development of hypertension or influence the effects of administration of tricyclic antidepressant drugs (TA). Injection os 6-OH-DA intraperitoneally prevented development of hypertension, and TA apparently protected against the consequences of administration of 6-OH-DA.

The effect of 4-aminopyrazolo (3,4-d) pyrimidine (4-APP) on some parameters of carbohydrate metabolism in the rat.

The study was designed to evaluate some parameters of carbohydrate metabolism in the rat as influenced by 4-APP, an adenine analogue. Adult female rats were injected with 1 mg 4-APP/100 g body weight/day for 3 days. 4-APP evoked a marked enlargement of the liver with lipid droplets accumulation in hepatocytes. This was accompanied by a marked lowering of the liver glycogen content. Within 3 days 4-APP did not change serum glucose, insulin and free fatty acid concentration. Serum glycogenolytic activity studied in an in vitro system showed 7 times as high glucose releasing ability in 4-APP treated rats as that of the serum of control animals. 4-APP resulted also in a marked enlargement of the adrenal medulla and lowered adrenaline and noradrenaline concentrations in the gland. The possibility of an activation of glycogenolysis in the liver of 4-APP treated rats has been discussed.
