Imaging features of myoepithelioma arising from the hard palate. A case report.

A 53-year-old Japanese woman presented with a mass of the hard palate that was histologically diagnosed as myoepithelioma. By CT, the well-demarcated ovoid isodense mass showed faint contrast enhancement. By MR imaging, the mass was homogeneous and isointense on T1-weighted images with homogeneous enhancement after administration of contrast material and markedly hyperintense on T2-weighted images. Myoepithelioma should be kept in mind as differential diagnosis of hard palatine tumors.

[Clinical study of cis-platinum in the chemotherapy for malignant gastrointestinal disease: arterial infusion and intraperitoneal administration].

We studied the antitumor effects and the side effects of CDDP in the main cancer chemotherapy for gastrointestinal cancer. CDDP (100mg) was administered through the hepatic artery, systemic vein and peritoneal cavity. The administration period was four weeks. In the cases of the hepatic arterial infusion, the size of metastatic liver tumors and CEA level decreased markedly. In those of the intraperitoneal administration, ascites decreased and performance status was well maintained. There was no bone marrow depression or nephropathy. Nausea and vomiting were the main side effects, being associated with 29 administrations (52%). Acute intrahepatic biliary stasis was found in the case of hepatic arterial administration of 300mg of CDDP.

67Ga scanning and upper gastrointestinal series for gastric lymphomas.

67Ga scanning and upper gastrointestinal (UGI) series were performed in 13 patients with gastric lymphomas before any treatment was initiated. Seven of these patients also underwent both examinations after completing chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy. Prior to treatment, all 13 patients had abnormalities on the UGI examination, and 12 of them had abnormalities on the 67Ga scans. In 6 patients, more extensive gastric abnormalities were demonstrated by 67Ga scanning than by UGI examination. Although persistent 67Ga uptake after treatment was indicative of relatively poor therapeutic response, lack of uptake did not always indicate a good response to treatment.

Afferent loop syndrome.

A case of afferent loop syndrome demonstrated by computed tomography (CT) is described. To our knowledge, no CT findings of this syndrome have been illustrated in the literature. This syndrome can be definitely diagnosed by CT when a U-shaped cystic mass continuous with the biliary system is demonstrated behind the superior mesenteric artery.
