[Radiation-risk in catheterization and angiocardiography of the child (author's transl)].

The skin exposure and the energy transferred to the body (integraldose) increase with the child's growth. Nevertheless the mean body dose (integraldose/body-weight) is the highest in the youngest patient. The probability of roentgenray induced letal malignancy is approximately 1:9000--1:17000. The morbidity risk may be 2--3 times higher at the least.

[Barium meal after pancreatic surgery (author's transl)].

After duodenopancreatectomy the roentgenpattern of the upper gastrointestinal tract resembles the pattern after Billroth I- or Billroth II- resection. A different aspect results after Y-Roux anastomosis. The follow-up of pseudocysts drained into the stomach poses no problems. The follow-up of pseudocysts drained into the small bowel demands a roentgenexamination with duodenal intubation. The use of hypotonia is advisable in the diagnosis of malignancy. Problems may arise in roentgendiagnostics after palliative operations.

[Postoperative retonisation of dilatated bile ducts (author's transl)].

The diameters of the bile duct system where measured before and after choledochal surgery in 101 patients. The diameter decreased the most in patients with extreme dilatation preoperatively, but frequently did not reach physiological measures. During the first days after surgery the decrease was the most essential. Age and sex had no obvious influence, neither had long standing complaints.

[Radiation exposure and radiation risks from body scanners (author's transl)].

The exposure received during investigation with the Delta 50 FS body scanner was measured in 150 patients. On the basis of data in IRCP 26, the somatic and genetic risk from the absorbed dose was calculated. The somatic risk per examination varies between 1:40 000 and 1:310 000, depending on the part of the body examined. The genetic risk (probability of radiation induced malformation in off-springs) is of the order of 1:19 000 to 1:1 5 million.

[Radiation risk for the child in urinary tract roentgendiagnostic (author's transl)].

During one urogramm skin doses were measured between 0,1--0,9 Roentgen (R) in the radiation field. The testes dose was 6--41 mR. In mictioncysto-urethrography the skin dose was between 0,2 and 4,2 R/examination, and the testes dose 50--80 mR. The energy transferred to the body by the X-rays (integral dose) was 5,6--23 mJoule (mJ) per urogramm. The mean-body-dose (integral dose/bodyweight) was 1,3--0,6 mJ/kg per examination. The probability to induce a lethal disease (for example leukemia or malignoma) by this dose is approximately 1:50 000--1:500 000. The probability that exposure of the gonades induces mutations and thereby malformations in the following two generations is equally about 1:50 000--1:500 000.

Physiological response to hyper- and hypogravity during rollercoaster flight.

Healthy male subjects--26--were flown in a Lear jet aircraft through rollercoaster and parabolic weightlessness flight. Eye movements, respiration, and blood volume pulse were recorded on magnetic tape. The same subjects underwent a battery of five vestibular tests in the laboratory on the ground. One subject in each flight was flown in an upright position, the other in a 90 degree foreward tilted head position. The foreward tilted subjects always reported motion sickness earlier and after fewer rollercoaster manoeuvres than the upright sitting subjects. It is concluded that the susceptibility to changes of X-axis acceleration is higher than to changes of Z-axis acceleration. Correlation was found between the ability to estimate the subjective vertical (modified Müller-Aubert-test), optokinetic nystagmus asymmetries, and susceptibility to rollercoaster flight sickness.

[Roentgendiagnostic of the operated bile duct system (author's transl)].

The roentgendiagnostic after bile duct surgery shall demonstrate postoperative complications, recurrencys of the primary disease and other complications. Planning the diagnostic procedures one has to consider the preceeding operation: surgery of the gallbladder, the common bile duct, the papilla Vateri, biliodigestive anastomosis, bile duct drainage by plastic tube, and duodenopancreatectomy.

[Plain film diagnostic of the acromio-clavicular dislocation (author's transl)].

The distance between the clavicula and the acromion, between the clavicula and the processus coracoideus and the step height between the acromion and the clavicula arch were measured on roentgen films. Evaluated were plain films of the shoulder and of the chest. 64 patients with dislocation of the acromio-clavicular joint were compared to patients without shoulder lesion. The comparison of both groups showed, that measures exceeding the upper limits of the group without lesions are highly suggestive for acromio-clavicular dislocation. If one defines an acromio-clavicular dislocation as proved when two of the measured three distances exceed the upper limit, then an acromio-clavicular dislocation could be seen in 36% of the analysed cases on plain films of the shoulder and in 56% on plain chest films.

[Double pylorus through antrobulbar fistula formation (author's transl)].

Three patients are presented with double pylori due to antrobulbary fistulas after penetration of ulcers through the prepyloric mucosa or the pyloric ring. Two cases were diagnosed radiographically; in one of them the diagnosis was confirmed by gastroscopy and verified by subsequent operation. The third case was revealed at autopsy. The etiology and pathogenesis of fistulas within the gastrointestinal tract are discussed with regard to the current literature.
