There is dealt with maternal mortality because of puerperal infections based on GDR-statistics. The expert opinions of special commissions dealing with struggle against maternal mortality are considered while analyzing the possibilities of infection. Necessary diagnostics and special individualized therapy are referred, too.
By means of thin layer chromatography amino acids, lipids and phospholipids were detected in the vaginal fluids of pregnant and nonpregnant women with and without vaginal yeast colonization. Though pregnancy and/or yeast colonization do not seem to alter qualitatively the spectrum of amino acids and lipids of the vaginal fluid, an influence is supposed of these substances - like that of glucose - on growth and metabolism of the yeasts and on the clinical manifestation of vaginal candidosis.
Vaginal swabs of 1000 patients were investigated by microscopic preparation and bacteriological culture. Culture was superior to microscopic investigation unequivocally. For orientation and other defined questions the microscopic preparation may be sufficient. Cultural screening methods are sufficient for expanded diagnosis in cases with vaginal infections.

Substances of antiseptic action were tested for their intravaginal applicability in gynaecology and obstetrics. Serial dilution and diffusion tests were conducted to that end. The results were limited by the properties of the substances tested. Only few of the antiseptics tested seemed to be suitable for intravaginal application.
Reported in this paper are some possible approaches to culturing of vaginal flora. Plastic slides and various selective culturing media are described. The results so far achieved are likely to suggest that the above approach is applicable in practice.

The most common infections in the vaginal and cervical regions are covered in this paper. Latest results are briefly described, but no general propositions are made. Insufficiently established microbiological findings were left unconsidered.
Reported is the use of TTC-containing culture media. They were used by the authors in screening tests to determine bacterial vaginal flora. The method seems to be promising in terms of better diagnostic and therapeutic results.
The authors isolated 135 yeasts from patients who had undergone repeated treatment for mycoses. Analyses were made to determine resistance to Nystatin and Clotrimazol. Secondary resistance was exhibited by Candida species, but their pathogenicity still is controversial.

Bismuth-containing Sabouraud's glucose agar was used as an indicator medium. Preliminary experience is reported in this paper. Blastomyces infection was properly identified in some 82 per cent of all cases checked, and falsely negative results cropped up in 18 per cent. The causes are discussed. The medium is considered by the authors are being suitable for the diagnosis of blastomyces infection in the genital region of women.
In vitro tests of cell cultures have revealed individual responses of ovarian carcinomas to various cytostatic agents, the most effective ones being cyclophosphamide and trenimon. The role of pretherapeutical sensibilization tests for the chemotherapy of advanced ovarian carcinomas was investigated in a controlled clinical trial as part of a cooperative study. The survival curves of patients treated individually according to the given test result were at any time more favourable than those of a group nonindividually treated with trenimon. No significance between the two curves could be demonstrated on the basis of our preliminary results.
