[Delta pH F changes sub partu and their clinical relevance].

Investigations of delta pHF-changes in labor led to the opinion, that there exist no agreement between this changes and the fetal or neonatal condition. Nevertheless they represent an important criterion--together with electronic parameters--for estimation of placental function. By achievment of limiting values (delta pHF greater than or equal to 0,10) and persistent pathological fetal heart rate patterns the termination of labor is necessary. A pHF less than 7,25 should no be reached. That ist of great importance for a low acidotic morbidity.--In this connection the determination of pHF to begin of the fetal monitoring is requisite. This is meaningful for the dynamics of pHF-values in labor in accordance with the fetal monitoring.

[Orally-administered taurine in therapy-resistant epilepsy (author's transl)].

The anticonvulsive action of taurine, was tested in 9 therapy in 9 therapy-resistant patients with a high incidence of seizures. Taurine was given orally (1.5-7.5 g daily) over a period of 4 to 16 weeks and, despite the high dosage, no appreciable side effects were observed. During this time seizures disappeared temporarily for about two weeks in 5 out of 9 cases. In one case the seizure frequency was transiently reduced by approximately 25%, whilst in the remaining 3 cases no effect of taurine on seizure frequency was observed. The reason for the rapid disappearance of the anticonvulsive action of taurine is not known.

[Contact eczema in rubberhose makers].

4 tube-bonelace-makers of a rubber tube plant suffered from an allergic contact dermatitis due to rubberdyes of azotype. The cause is a permanent contamination of the skin by coloured rubber solutions used for sticking and signing the enclosed textures of the different tubes, bags and hoses.

[Connexions between instrumental delivery and cerebral damage in the infant (author's transl)].

An interdepartmental investigation was carried out on the incidence of brain injury, especially so-called minimal brain injury, after instrumental delivery of infants by means of forceps or vacuum extractor. There is no statistically-significant difference in the incidence of brain injury in infants delivered by means of forceps as compared with the vacuum extractor; there is, however, a significant increase in incidence of brain injury in infants following instrument-aided delivery as opposed to spontaneous delivery. A thorough explanation of the methods is given and the results are discussed.

[Short forms of a short psychopathological intelligence test (author's transl)].

Even short tests can still be materially shortened when they are intended to provide rough information. An example of a short intelligence test shows that considerable reductions are permissible when the procedure is intended to classify subjects into IQ groups of roughly "under 100" or "over 100". Also division into three as below average, average and above average level of intelligence is possible, and also division into four grades. If about 85% accuracy is satisfactory, a three-problem test is sufficient. For grading into three and four parts, six and nine problems, respectively may be adequate.

[Mediastinoscopy and scar-keloid's in boeck's sarcoid (author's transl)].

The paper represents the results of the mediastinoscopy in 135 cases of Boeck's sarcoid. The frequent formation of keloid's in the scar of the mediastinotomy is emphasized. The histological examinations of the scar keloid's after mediastinoscopy are compared with histological examinations of scars after resections of the thyroid glands. The possible reasons of the differences are discussed.
