Typical visual field defects were found in 86 acute anterior ischemic optic neuropathies occurring in 71 patients. These field defects suggest a separate vascular supply of the upper and lower half of the disc and of the maculo-papillar bundle. A sub-division into four sectors can be inferred in the upper half of the disc. Fluorescein angiography showed sectorial differences of the capillary filling and leakage in some cases. This pattern was however poorly correlated with the localisation of the field defects.
In a case of aortic insufficiency, increased snaking occured with very pulse wave coming through the retinal arteries. When photographs taken at diastolic and systolic culminations were compared, with the haploscope, when stereoscopically seen, they clearly showed the subtile deformation of the vessels under a stereoscopic effect.

Electronystagmograms were recorded from six normal subjects who had to maintain an extreme sideward gaze either in the dark or using a fixation target. End position nystagmus occured in three subjects immediately, in two subjects with a latency of several seconds, and in one subject with a latency of 90 seconds. The nystagmus was typically dissociated and was similar whether the subject viewed a fixation point or was recorded from in darkness.
Two patients with unilateral abducens palsy used their paretic-but visually superior-eye for fixation. In these patients, adaptive changes of saccadic amplitude and of the relation between phasic and tonic components of saccades were found. These changes led to a reduction of foveation time.
This report concerns a 55-year-old woman who developed ocular myasthenia after 12 months treatment with D-Penicillamine for her rheumatoid arthritis. In the last 2 years the literature contains reports of 22 similar cases.
Abduction saccadic movement slowed to either side without any limitation in the end position occurred in a patient. This ocular motor abnormality constituted a mirror image of the well-known internuclear ophthalmoplegia of abduction. Intermuclear ophthalmoplegia of either type demonstrates that a lesion between the center for conjugate gaze and the ocular motor nuclei can impair phasic activity of the eye muscles without reducing their tonic function.

Three cases with chronic progressive external ophthalmoplegia are presented. They showed an upper lid, retraction which was due to a better preservation of lid elevator function as compared to ocular elevator function.
