[Spontaneous rupture of gravid rudimentary horn of an uterus bicornis unicollis without connection with the cervical channel (author's transl)].

It is reported on a 24-year-old nullipara, who came to be operated with the diagnosis of perforated extrauterine gravidity. It was the question of the perforation of a gravid uterus bicornis with missing connection of the gravid horn to the cervical channel. The importance of an early diagnosis of uterus malformations is pointed out. The modus of implantation in the atresic uterus horn is placed under discussion.

[Cytological accuracy of intraepithelial atypical findings on the uterine cervix].

At the municipal hospital for women in Darmstadt 223 prestages and commencing phases of the cervix-carcinoma were determined histologically from 1/1/1972 to 31/3/1976. In almost half of all low-grade dysplasias we were at first surprised due to our prospective cytologic statement. Examining all preparations, we found cytomorphologic criteria indicating dysplastic alterations. These are cytologic cell complexes with a distinct anisonucleosis without tumordiathesis. By this knowledge the registration quota of slightly dysplastic alterations could be raised to abt. 65%. The failure quota regarding the prospective cytologic statement "pre-invasion" amounts to abt. a quarter of all preformations. The results will be discussed in the connection with cytologic alterations and the histomorphologic building of intraepithelial atypias.

[Therapeutic procedure in prospective cytodiagnosis].

If the prospective cytology speaks for an intraepithelial atypia, it is possible, due to an extended gynecologic indication, (descensus uterus myomatosus, etc.) to make a primary hysterectomy, avoiding a conisation. As well the complication of the conisation and the eventually following hysterectomy, as as second hospitalisation will thus be avoided. Only twice in 101 cases the cytologic prospective statement of pre-invasion could not be confirmed. These were cases of microinvasion in the sense of a "reticular infiltration". We made no further error "upwards". This proceeding for the diagnosis and therapy of early alterations at the portio uteri can only be carried out in clinics with gynecologically-clinically experienced cytologists. The clearing by conisation of cytologically not definite findings continues to remain the leading principle.

[Severe coagulopathy due to inhibitors of several clotting factors in IgM paraproteinaemia (author's transl)].

A 62-year-old man presented with an IgM paraproteinaemia and then suddenly developed an haemophilia-like haemorrhagic diathesis. Clotting tests revealed markedly prolonged Quick prothrombin times (more than 2 min) and much diminished factor II, V, VII, and X activities. Cross-mixing experiments indicated the presence of a circulating inhibitor, which specifically blocked the activity of these factors. But the exact mechanism remains uncertain, no inhibitor of this type having been previously reported. In addition to the clotting defect there was a probably monoclonal immunoglobulin IgM. Complete remission occurred and has now persisted for 18 months, after immuno-suppressive treatment with azathioprine and prednisone. It is suggested that the inhibitory capacity is confined to the abnormal IgM, due to a primary immunological disorder. A review of similar reported cases emphasizes the importance of immunosuppressive treatment in this disorder.

Effect of intraventricular oxytocin and vasopressin on self-stimulation in rats.

Oxytocin (500 mu u) and vasopressin (50 mu u) were injected into the lateral ventricle and its effect on hypothalamic self-stimulation has been studied. Oxytocin increased, while vasopressin decreased the self-stimulation rate tested 10-20 min following application. The hypothalamic and mesencephalic serotonin content decreased slightly while plasma corticosterone content did not change 20 min after oxytocin and vasopressin administration compared to the injected control animals. The data suggest that vasopressin and oxytocin have an opposite effect on self-stimulation and this action is not mediated through the brain serotoninergic or pituitary-adrenocortical axis.

[Interpretation of autoradiogramms and images of biological objects with the electronically operating image analyzer. "Densitron II". 1. The mode of work, efficiency, and possibilities of application of the apparatus (author's transl)].

Mode of operation and general parameters of efficiency of the Densitron II, an automated, electronically operating image analyzer, are demonstrated in autoradiographs and histological preparations, as an example. In this apparatus, a condensation and preparation of data is effected by isolated representation on a TV colour monitor of all the image - points whose transparency is the same or lies within a determined, freely selected interval. Simultaneous estimation of both transparency and area is possible.
