[State of the temporal organization of the system of cell reproduction in rat tissues under hypokinesia].

The study of time parameters of cell kinetics in the rats exposed to 34-day hypokinesia showed that changes in cell reproduction developed in rapidly and slowly renovating cells in a different way. The DNA synthesis and mitotic division were drastically inhibited in liver cells; the duration of the premitotic period of the mitotic cycle was significantly reduced in the cryptal epithelium of the small intestine. Hypokinesia did not cause important changes in the phasic structure of diurnal rhythms of cell division in the tissues tested and, consequently, did not lead to changes in the mechanisms of time organization of the cell reproduction system. It is concluded that the state of motor activity of animals is not the major time cue for cell division processes.

[Antihypoxic effectiveness of a "pulsed" regimen of human pressure chamber training].

It has been shown that a 10-day altitude chamber training in an intermittent mode can increase the maximum altitude man tolerates from 8,400 to 9,500 m and maximum time of exposure to increasing hypoxia (from 5,000 m) from 37 to 49 min. The antihypoxic effect of the above training persists for 10 days after its completion, leading to a better oxygen supply to various tissues.

[Structural and functional disorders of erythrocyte membranes in simulated extravehicle space work].

The experimental data on a structural-and-functional status of erythrocyte membranes in ground-based simulation of human extravehicular activity (EVA) are discussed. The changes in the structure and function of erythrocyte membrane were determined from the fixation of lipophilic ions, specific activity of ion-transporting adenosine triphosphatases and content of the products of peroxide oxidation of lipids (POL) in plasma. On exposure to hypobaric hyperoxia during real EVA the membrane status changes are associated with the activation of a cascade of POL processes.

[Water metabolism changes during prolonged hypokinesia with an antiorthostatic posture of the body].

Variations in the total content of body fluid and intravascular fluid were measured during a 49-day bed rest experiment and a 25-day recovery period. During the experiment the test subjects were kept in the head-down position at an angle of -4 degrees. The diminished motor activity led to a decrease of the absolute and, to a greater extent, of the relative content of water in the body which was associated with intravascular losses. The major changes in fluid balance occurred during the first two weeks of the bed rest experiment; this may be attributed to the head-down position of the test subjects.
