[Changes in the ocular muscles in progressive scleroderma (author's transl)].

One patient out of 13 with generalized scleroderma displayed related changes of ocular motility. Histologic examination of the external ocular muscles of one of our patients who had died, revealed a massive increase of the interstitial collagen, and various stages of muscular degeneration. These changes correspond closely with the histopathological findings in the myocardium.

[Mollusca contagiosa--review and critical evaluation of a new form of therapy (author's transl)].

The present state of knowledge of the clinical features and therapy of molluscum contagiosum is reviewed. Treatment with retinoic acid, applied topically, is evaluated on the basis of 15 cases. In the majority of patients the lesions cleared up within an average of 8.9 days. This therapy is contraindicated only in patients with a disposition to develop eczema. This form of therapy appears to be superior to all those in common use up to the present date, especially in children with multiple or recurrent lesions.

[Hormonal therapy of acne vulgaris. Review and results of treatment (author's transl)].

Hormones play a major role in the development of acne vulgaris of pubertal onset. In addition to a seborrhoeic diathesis, an imbalance of oestrogens and androgens, as well as altered enzyme metabolism in the sebaceous glands are factors frequently implicated in the aetiology of this condition. There are many reports on hormonal treatment in the literature; the therapeutic regimes and results achieved varied greatly. The present report is concerned with a discussion of the results obtained in 50 patients with acne vulgaris treated with a drug containing oestriol.

[Fundus changes in scleroderma (author's transl)].

12 patients with scleroderma were submitted to an ophthalmological examination. 9 patients displayed fundus changes. In 7 cases defects of the retinal pigment epithelium near the macula were observed, one of these patients showed an associated serous detachment of the pigment epithelium. In three patients localized retinal vascular changes, especially on the capillary level, were notices. Obviously, alterations of the collagen as well as vasopathological changes being part of the systemic disorder do have their counterpart of the systemic disorder do have their counterpart within the eye.
