[The explantation and replacement of artificial lens implants].

The paper presents the statistical study of the appearance of explantation on the whole of artificial lenses implants, at the Ophthalmology Service of the Central Military Hospital during the years 1989-1993. The statistics relies on the review of data extracted from the operation registers, elaborated during the mentioned period, followed by their computerized processing and plotting. The authors also referred to the types of postoperative complications and their weight in the genesis of the explanation, as well as their distribution related to the sort of implanted intraocular lens. The survey also illustrates the long-run evolution of the reimplantation percentage. The results are comparatively reviewed to those in the specialty literature.

[Bourneville's tuberous sclerosis].

Phacomatoses represent a group of congenital and familial diseases, characterized by neuromesodermal, neuroectodermal or atypical disorders. The primary lesion sites in the connective tissue, affecting the organogenesis. Bourneville's disease or the tuberous sclerosis, is a rare congenital disease, with autosomal dominant inheritance with irregular penetration. The essential pathology is the appearance of multiple tumors with various sites: brain, heart, kidneys, skin, eye ball.

[The Laurence-Moon-Bardet-Biedl syndrome].

The Laurence-Moon-Bardet-Biedl syndrome consists of: retinitis pigmentosa, adiposo-genital dystrophy, syndactyly, mental retardation. It is presented a patient with atypical retinitis pigmentosa--unilateral, sectorial and hypopigmentary form, as part of the Laurence-Moon-Bardet-Biedl syndrome.

[Double anterior and posterior lenticonus].

The paper presents the observations on a case of double lenticonus, anterior and posterior on the only eye. The lenticonus is an uncommon disease of the lens. Although congenital the disease is a late discovery. Owing to the gradual disorders of eyesight. How long the eyesight is useful it isn't a surgical treatment.

[Congenital aniridia and cataract].

A 12-year-old patient presents aniridia, congenital cataract and nystagmus. The zonular cataract at both eyes has evolved at the right eye. Visual acuity at the right eye is very low (hand movement perception). The lens intracapsular removal at the right eye, with the resection of the hyaloid-capsular ligament, has improved the visual function at 1/6 with adequate correction. The specificity of the case resides in his infrequent occurrence, probably because of a genetic mutation causing partial lack of the zonular fibers.

[The artificial lens implant].

The paper presents a short history of the cataract intervention, starting from the lens luxation in vitreum and going to the implant of artificial lens. From the three classes of artificial lenses, up-to-date options are the posterior chamber artificial lenses. Today, in 80% of the cases, artificial lens implant is done, 80% of the implanted lenses being posterior chamber lenses. The paper also exposes various operatorial techniques, post-operatorial evolution and the results obtained.

[The clinical and anatomicopathological aspects in malignant choroid melanoma].

Choroidal malignant melanoma is the most frequently among the intraocular malignant tumors, and its incidence is getting hier. Clinical aspects (stadialisation, clinical forms) are strictly corelated with the anatompathological aspects (macroscopic exam, clasic histology, optic microscopy, electronic microscopy, TEM or scanning-SEM). Prognose and survival of malignant melanoma, depends on the histological form and on others microscopic changes. The results are integrated in a schema of conservative, complex, codifical, sequental treatement.

[The ocular manifestations in rheumatic diseases in young adults].

The paper presents the ocular clinical manifestations and its immunopathology in the main rheumatic diseases. The study shows that the most frequent ocular involvement in ankylosing spondylitis is anterior uveitis and HLA-B27 + uveitis are more severe, with a longer evolution and more frequent complications.

[Pseudophakic uveitis].

One of the most important complication in the cataract surgery is the uveitis of the IOL ("toxic lens syndrome"). There are shown the main factors related to the artificial lens, viscoelastic materials and sutures, which may provoke inflammatory reactions. The symptoms may appear early after the operation or later. Concerning those things there is presented a study achieved in the University Clinic of Ophthalmology of the Central Military Hospital.
