[Changes in the thrombocyte and procoagulant links in hemostasis in patients with arterial hypertension].

A study of 62 workers with arterial hypertension of the ore mining industry revealed significant and various changes of the thrombocytic and coagulation hemostasis in patients. Hyperfibrinemia, increase of adhesive-aggregation properties of cellular elements, depression of fibrinolysis creates a thrombogenic situation. For choice of treatment tactics in clinical conditions it is recommended to evaluate the thrombocytic and procoagulant links of hemostasis. Disorders in the system of primary hemostasis (increase of adhesive-aggregational properties of cellular elements) are an indication to the use of antiaggregants (tyclid, tyclopidin). In case of fibrinolysis depression, anticoagulants should be used in the therapy complex.

[Effects of high and low molecular soluble factors of the bone marrow on antibody formation and pain sensitivity in animals].

In addition to the immunostimulating activity, bone marrow mediators, myelopeptides (MP) show the dose-dependent effect on the development of pain sensitivity in mice. When injected in nanogram amounts, MP induce hyperalgesia and 3-9 fold higher production of antibodies against SREC. When injected in milligram amounts, they exhibit hypoalgesic effect and no influence on antibody production. Immunostimulating effect in MP (mol, mass less than 1 KD, fraction 3) is accompanied with hypoalgesia. Bone marrow factors of mol. masses 40-150 KD (fraction 1) eluted at Sephadex G-25 gel-filtration before MP enhance the pain sensitivity tHreshold and show a potent immunodepressive effect. Thus the bone marrow factors are capable of exhibiting the opposite effects on the immune system in the pain control system that evidences the tight interrelation between these systems.

[Hypertension risk factors in iron ore miners].

An in-depth study of the prevalence of hypertonic disease among 3075 underground miners of Krivoi Rog iron-ore basin was carried out. The incidence of the disease was 11.3 +/- 0.6 percent. A correlative dependence between incidence of HD, age and length of work underground was found; there were also found differences in the incidence of HD among different occupational groups and occupations. A single-factor disperse analysis indicated that the proportion of seven identified risk factors for HD accounted for 22.0 percent. Under favourable and unfavourable combination of factors the risk of HD, as demonstrated by estimates made with the help of Bayes method, varied from 6.5 to 95.1 percent. Based on the calculated standard intensive indicators the groups of prognosis for HD were determined. Curative and health-promoting activities were conducted in sanatoria facilities among groups of special attention and unfavourable prognosis. The experience was summarized in methodical recommendations.

[The immunomodulating action of myelopeptides in hypoxic hypoxia in animals].

It was observed that in animals which underwent a hypoxic stress by way of a 3-day exposition in the pressure chamber at an altitude of 7,000 m the immune response to sheep erythrocytes was decreased by 47 per cent. A two-three-fold decrease in the production of myelopeptides was noted in 24h after the exposition in the pressure chamber.

Myelopeptides--bone marrow mediators with immunostimulating and endorphin-like activity.

Bone marrow cells produce soluble mediators with structural and functional heterogeneity. They were found to stimulate antibody production at the peak of the immune response, owing to compounds of a peptide nature (Mr 2000-1300). Active material was isolated by means of gel chromatography and electrophoresis. This material positively reacts with ninhydrin, and has maximum absorption close to 278 nm. Its antibody-stimulating activity decreased or stopped completely after treatment with proteolytic enzymes. Apart from the immunostimulating activity, bone marrow mediators have opiate-like activity. They have an analgetic effect, and interact with the opiate receptors of brain nerve cells. After a physicochemical and functional analysis, we conclude that bone marrow produces regulatory peptides that were previously unknown. We called them myelopeptides.

[Effect of bone marrow mediator myelopeptides on the summation-threshold index and behavioral reactions of rats].

Transmitter peptides having immunostimulant and endorphine-like properties were isolated from supernatant of medullary cell culture. Bioregulatory peptides were called myelopeptides. Myelopeptides provoked changes of the summation-threshold index in rats, which augmented in time. These changes pointed to the realization of the analgetic effect of myelopeptides via the spinal-stem structures of the central nervous system. Having a remarkable analgesic effect myelopeptides administered in the doses tested did not produce any action on the behavioral responses. The latter circumstance makes them differ from narcotic analgesics and known endorphines.

[Dynamics of the electroencephalogram and rheoencephalogram during reflexotherapy of patients with trigeminal neuralgia].

The examination of the EEG and the REG prior to and after acupuncture in patients with trigeminal neuralgia revealed the characteristic changes in the bioelectrical activity of the brain and in the cerebral circulation. Following the treatment the pattern of these changes was shown to alter. The beneficial time-course of the EEG was predominant although rheoencephalographic indices were also normalized. The majority of cases displayed the correlation between the physiological and clinical indices which prompted the conclusion that the physiological parameters studied were adequate for assessing the efficacy of acupuncture in trigeminal neuralgia.
