[Investigations on the oncomiracidium of Capsalidae (Monogenea) (author's transl)].

A detailed study of the ciliated cells and chetotaxy of the larva of Benedenia monticelli (Parona y Perugia, 1895) parasite of Mugil cephalus L. is carried out. Observations on the oncomiracidium of Trochopus pini (Van Beneden and Hesse, 1863) and Entobdella soleae (Van Beneden and Hesse, 1863) reveal a common plan of these structures among those Capsalidae. The pattern is different from that observed in the Dactylogyroïdea on one hand and Polyopisthocotylea on the other hand. The chetotaxic type of Capsaloïdea is original and it could, perhaps, be more advanced ontogenetic scheme as are the haptoral sclerites and the excretory system among these Monogenea.

[Study of the larval stages of Monogenea of fishes (author's transl)].

The ciliate cells and the oncomiracidial chetotaxy of the following species are described: Among the Polyopisthocotylea : Gastrocotyle trachurii Van Bneden and Hesse, 1863, Gastrocotylidae, parasite of Trachurus trachurus (L.); Cyclocotyla bellones (Otto, 1821), Diclidophoradae, living on the Cymothoides Isopods of Sparidae : Boops boops (L.) and Spicara maena (L.) ; Mazocraes sp., Mazocraeidae, parasite of Sardinella maderensis (Lowe, 1841). Among the Monopisthocotylea : Ligophorus vanbenedeni (Parona and Perugia, 1890) and Onchocleidus principalis (Mizelle, 1936), Ancyrocephalidae, from Liza aurata (Risso, 1810) and Micropterus salmoïdes (Lacepède, 1802) respectively ; Furnistinia echeneis (Wagener, 1857), Diplectanidae, from Sparus aurata L. ; Calceostomella inerme (Parona and Perugia, 1889) Calceostomatidae, from Umbrina cirrhosa (L.) ; Calicotyl kröyeri Diesing, 1850, Monocotylidae, cloacal parasite of Raja clavata L. Results confirm the unity of the Polyopisthocotylea concerned. Among the Monopisthocotylea, a similar unity is recorded for the Dactylogyroïdea to which the Calceostomatidae have to be related. The oncomiracidial chetotaxy of Calicotyl kröyeri (Monocotylidae) is very close to that of the Dactylogyroïdea larvae and highly differs from that of the Capsalidae.

[Degradation and uptake of 14C labeled casein peptides by mixed bacteria of the rumen].

This work studied the in vitro degradation by mixed rumen bacteria of various 14C-labelled fractions of casein peptides, of known molecular size, added to a total unlabelled casein hydrolysate. Size exclusion HPLC was used in order to segregate the casein peptides according to their molecular weights. Radioactivity associated with the bacteria increased over time. The way 14C was incorporated into the bacteria depended on the size of the labelled peptides initially added. Small peptides (1 to 2 kDa) were very rapidly assimilated, whereas radioactivity coming from larger peptides (5 to 10 kDa) tended to accumulate far more slowly in the bacterial pellet. The disappearance rates of the radioactivity differed between the fractions. The longest peptides disappeared more quickly than the medium-sized ones, which in turn were hydrolysed more rapidly than the smallest ones. Here, the uptake of small peptides seems to be the limiting step of the peptides utilization by bacteria.
