Studied was the action of mould pectinase produced in this country, using Asp. niger. Rats and guinea pigs were subject to the testing through continuous oral treatment. The preparation was mixed with feed at 0.1 and 0.2 ratio percents (1000 and 2000 ppm)--with the rats for a period of 90 days, and with the guinea pigs--in the course of 180 days. It was found that the enzyme preparation stimulates the growth (more strongly expressed in rats), showing no adverse effect on the appetite and behaviour as well as on the tested clinical and biochemical indices of the blood and urine and the structure and development of viscera and the reproductive capacity of the test animals. The positive effect on the growth of animals is explained by the better utilization of the nutrient components of the ration, and the harmlessness of the preparation--by its weak resorption in the digestive tract (resorption index 13) and the fact that it is not able to attack animal tissues having no pectin substances.

Three cases of acute intoxication with the preparation "Cistol", containing tetrachloro-methane were described, with the development of acute renal insufficiency, treated with hemodialysis. The attention of the physicians and the society is drawn to the risk of intoxication by that preparation. Early hemodialysis is recommended in case of such intoxications.
The changes in the late positive wave P3 of the averaged evoked potentials (AEP) are studied under conditions when: (a) only high tones were presented requiring no motor response; (b) only low tones were presented requiring motor response; (c) the subject was instructed that the two types of tones will be presented in random order with a definite probability (50%:50% or 25%:75%, or conversely 75%:25%) requiring motor response only to the low tones. In fact, however, only high tones were presented to which no motor response was required (pseudo-mixed series). It has been established that under the effect of the verbal instruction used, the P3 wave of the AEP of the pseudo-mixed series increased at the beginning of the series, and thereafter the P3 "behaviour" was different with the different subjects: (1) In some of them P3 persisted until the presentation of a definite number of signals (different for the individual subjects) and afterwards it disappeared; (2) In some others P3 now increased now disappeared in a manner different for the different subjects; (3) Subjects in which P3 remained pronounced throughout the entire series; they also "heard" low tones. All these changes in P3 did not depend on the probability characteristics of the pseudo-mixed series ascribed by the instruction. The dependence of the late positive wave P3 on the processes of probability prediction in the human brain functioning, and on the changes in the arousal, is discussed.
A comparison is made of the averaged evoked potentials (AEP) to auditory signals obtained in three different series: (a) a series consisting of high tones only to which no motor response was required; (b) a series consisting of low tones only in which quick motor response was required; (c) a series consisting of the same low tones and elimination of the requirement for quick motor response. It was found that the late positive wave P3 of AEP changed in the different series. In the series requiring no motor response P3 was poorly expressed, in the series requiring quick motor response P3 markedly increased and in the series in which the requirement for quick motor response was eliminated, it decreased again. The AEP configuration from the last series repeated that obtained from the indifferent signals. Moreover, on evoked potentials to signal trials and analysis was made of the dispersions in the P3 latencies under conditions requiring motor response. Their difference was found to be insignificant. The results obtained are explained by the assumption that the wave P3 reflects the activity of the central nervous system related to evaluation of the outcome and with the result of the prediction and the planned speed of the motor response.

Two necropsic cases with heart amyloidosis in seninle age are described. The peculiarity in the first case is the parallel affect of myocardium and live with the absence of a disease, which might lead to secondary amyloidosis. The high elevated gamma-globulins (44%) in that case give grounds an autoimmune determined primary idiopathic amyloidosis to be presumed. The second case is with isolated senile myocardial amyloidosis.
A total of 1084 deceased with basic diseases atherosclerosis, hypertonic disease an rheumatism have been studied retrospectively for 11 years (1962-1972). Thrombo-embolic complications were established in 37,7% the examined. Considerably higher incidence of thrombo-embolic complications were found in rheumatism (44%) and atherosclerosis (43%). Arterial and cardiac thrombosis predominate in those three diseases. Venous thrombosis is relatively rare. Pulmonary thromboembolia, the most frequent cause for the lethal end, is found in 43,71% of the deceased with thromboembolias. The chronic cardiac decompensation is an important additional factor, favouring the thrombo-embolic complications. The rheumatic process activity in theumatism plays a relatively not so important role.

A total of 19 fetuses and 10 placentas were studied. Four fetuses and one placenta harboured neorickettsiae, and the remaining fetuses and placentae originated from cows in the serum of which there were complement-fixing antibodies. These ranged within 1:8-1:64. The gross lesions of the fetuses consisted in the presence of edema with enlargement of the liver. The changes were more characteristic histologically. The liver, kidney, heart, adrenals, and occasionally the lung and spleen had foci of histiocytes, lymphoid and plasmatic cells, and fibroblasts, sometimes with the presence of sporadic leukcoytes. The presence of such cell elements agglomerated in foci fairly often built up formations of granulomatous character. The focal processes prevailed, however, there were diffuse reactions too. Histologically, there were in the placenta diffuse edemas, hyperemia, single hemorrhages, and multiple necrotic foci. A correlation was established between the serologic, virologic, and morphologic changes which made more feasible the diagnosis in such abortions.
