[Anatomical and medical laboratory parallels of various forms of thrombus formation].

77 patients who had suffered from various diseases and had died under clinical circumstances of thromboembolic complications were systematically examined in clinical and morphological respect. Depending on the pathological-anatomical character of thrombus formation determined they were classified into 4 groups: 1. Massive venous thromboses with embolus of the lung; 2. Disseminated intravasal coagulation; 3. Locally limited, mainly arterial thromboses or some microthromboses; 4. Without any thrombotic complications. A distinct dependence between the changes in the standard values of the coagulation status (fibrinogen, thrombocytes, prothrombin time, bleeding and coagulation time) and the character and extent of thrombotic processes could not be detected. It is solely the level of fibrin splitting products which, to a certain degree, reflects the extent and spread of thrombotic processes.

[Method and apparatus setup for preparing test dusts with a specified granulometric composition by air separation].

A method is developed and apparatuses constructed for the preparation of zeolite dusts for biological experiments in vivo and in vitro with dimensions under 5 micron. The method includes autogenic grinding of rocky zeolite material and air separation of the fraction under 63 micron, by means of cyclone and experimentally chosen conditions of work. The received "respirable" dust very well imitates the dust of the air from the working environment. The preparation of different experimental dusts is possible when suitable conditions, for working with the equipment, are chosen and the density of the material for separation is considered.

Endocardial fibroelastosis. Clinico-pathological study of 38 cases.

A clinico-pathological study was carried out based on 38 autopsies of patients with endocardial fibroelastosis ( EFE ): 82% of the cases were below the age of one year. The primary EFE was established in 21 (55%) of the cases, and in the last 17 (44%) it was associated with different congenital heart malformations (secondary EFE ). Different pathological conditions during pregnancy were present in 24% of the cases. Most often the left ventricle and atrium were involved, but in most of the cases the endocardium of the right cardiac chambers appeared by histological examination to be also affected. The varying morphological pictures of the heart suggest that EFE is a reaction of endocardium to different damaging factors.

[Thrombotic complications originating in the lung in chronic respiratory insufficiency].

34 patients, died of chronic respiratory insufficiency, as a result of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), are the subject of clinical-anatomical analysis. In 18 (53 +/- 17%) of them could be found thromboembolic complications more often developed as subacute or chronic intravascular coagulation, but evident changes could not be always met in the clotting system. The most characteristic feature is the raising of fibrin-degradation products and the reduction of antithrombin III. The necessity of dynamic trace of coagulation and haemorrheological data in patients with COPD in the stage of heavy chronic respiratory insufficiency is emphasized.

[Causes of death in chicks in the 1st days after hatching].

Scientific and productional experiments and complex investigations were carried out on breeding eggs, chick embryos, newly hatched birds, and ecologic habitats of two broiler dressing combines. It was found that the basic reasons for the morbidity and mortality of chicks in the first days following hatching were: the eggs chosen for hatching were of a lower biologic value due to deficient feeding (1); the veterinary, sanitary, and hygiene requirements with regard to the production, shipping, storing, and hatching of breeding eggs were overlooked (2); the little birds were offered feed mixtures of low value, along with admission of other drawback in their feeding (3); during the first days of raising the birds were kept at lower temperatures and lower relative humidity on the premises.

[Castleman's pseudotumor in postprimary pulmonary tuberculosis].

A 71 years old man with a Castleman's pseudotumor (hyaline vascular type) grown in the pleural cavity above the apex of the left lung is described. The pseudotumor developed on the background of a postprimary pulmonary tuberculosis with tuberculous empyema and hematogenous dissemination.
