Studies on flies in Korea. III. Taxonomic studies on muscid flies (Diptera, Muscidae).

Forty species belonging to 14 genera of the family Muscidae were found so far in Korea. They are described in this paper and 5th sternites, forceps and male genitalia are illustrated. Eleven species recorded by Kobayashi (1918-1940) and 16 species by Hori (1952) were revised and redescribed in this paper. The key to the species of the muscid flies in Korea are also presented.

The genome sequence of the muscid fly, Hydrotaea similis Meade, 1887 (Diptera: Muscidae).

We present a genome assembly from an individual female Hydrotaea similis (muscid fly; Arthropoda; Insecta; Diptera; Muscidae). The assembly contains two haplotypes with total lengths of 884.66 megabases and 852.78 megabases. Most of haplotype 1 (90.83%) is scaffolded into 5 chromosomal pseudomolecules. Haplotype 2 was assembled to scaffold level. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 20.27 kilobases. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland.

Diptera

The genome sequence of a muscid fly, Lispocephala verna (Fabricius, 1794) (Diptera: Muscidae).

We present a genome assembly from an individual female Lispocephala verna (muscid fly; Arthropoda; Insecta; Diptera; Muscidae). The assembly contains two haplotypes with total lengths of 987.71 megabases and 934.62 megabases. Most of haplotype 1 (95.8%) is scaffolded into 5 chromosomal pseudomolecules. Haplotype 2 was assembled to scaffold level. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 16.34 kilobases. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland.

Diptera

The genome sequence of a muscid fly, Hydrotaea militaris (Meigen, 1826) (Diptera: Muscidae).

We present a genome assembly from an individual female Hydrotaea militaris (Arthropoda; Insecta; Diptera; Muscidae). The assembly contains two haplotypes with total lengths of 1 703.03 megabases and 1 760.39 megabases. Most of haplotype 1 (96.2%) is scaffolded into 6 chromosomal pseudomolecules. Haplotype 2 was assembled to scaffold level. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 18.83 kilobases. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland.

Studies on medically important flies in Thailand. IV. Altitudinal distribution of flies belonging to Muscidae and Calliphoridae in Doi Indhanondh Mountain, Chiengmai, in early summer season.

The study on the altitudinal distribution of muscid and caliphorid flies was firstly carried out in the Doi Indhanondh mountain in March 1976. Twenty-eight species of muscid and calliphorid flies, belonging to 10 genera, were collected in this study. The calliphorid flies were classified into 7 genera and 19 species (2,442 individuals) and the muscid flies were classified into 3 genera and 9 species (1,061 individuals). The data and figures are shown in this paper.
