Infants with a very low birthweight (less than 1500 g) have a fundamental influence on perinatal mortality and mortality of babies up to one year also nowadays. The epidemiological role of different signs of risk in the context of the birth of these children is presented. The total mortality of the infants with a very low birthweight (less than 1500 g) was 64,4%. Usually there were combinations of factors, which caused the death of the infants. Complications of secundinae, immaturity and malformations were the substantial factors of lethality of the stillbirths. At the mortality of babies there were intracranial bleedings and immaturity (less than 1000 g, less than 28 completed weeks of pregnancy) in the foreground of the causes of death.

A 24-year-old patient had a long history of low backache. After examination he was found to have a presacral mass grossly displacing the rectum anteriorly. Surgical exploration revealed a large rounded mass (20x17x10cm) occupying the presacral space and adherent to the sacral promontory. The mass was totally excised. The histology was a benign fibroma. The patient persued an excellent post-operative course and has remained symptom free for one year now.

Information about labor presentation and birth weight of infants with connective tissue disorders such as Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is scarce. We report a case of abnormal fetal presentation and decreased birth weight in 2 infants affected by type III Ehlers-Danlos syndrome; their siblings were unaffected.

Persistent face presentations are relatively uncommon. The aetiology, management and results of 30 face presentation in labour are analyzed. The low fetal mortality and morbidity substantialles the effectiveness of conservative management in face presentation.
In face of the simplified performance of the mechanical course of birth in the manuals of obstetrics, in reality the conformations of the mechanical course are immense. This we found also in our investigations. But mere an alteration from the classical form of the course of birth is not an indication of intervention. The mechanical course of birth is, however, of much interest for determination of a possible localisation of an injuring mechanism in a brain damaged infant. It should be noticed exactly in the obstetrical journal.
