These cases reports describe the rationale and procedures for structuring an articulation therapy program on the basis of distinctive feature analysis of the child's articulation problems. Results of the speech therapy program described in these case reports illustrate the effectiveness and efficiency of using distinctive feature analysis to structure and guide articulation therapy. The report further points out that a therapist need not greatly alter the traditional approach to utilize distinctive feature analysis as an integral part of the overall articulation therapy program.

Domestic violence is occurring in epidemic proportions in the United States. Recent surveys have shown there is a need for educational programs for health care professionals. This report presents the results of a domestic violence workshop developed to increase knowledge and improve attitudes and skills in working with victims of domestic violence. The results of the workshop, measured by preintervention and postintervention attitude, knowledge, and skills surveys, are promising. There was a significant improvement in knowledge, self-assessed skills, and attitudes after the workshop. Although the full magnitude of the changes was not sustained over time, there was still significant improvement after 6 months in knowledge and attitude. Rates of detection and documentation did not change. Future educational programs will need to address maintaining routine screening for domestic violence in the primary care setting and to highlight more clearly the role of health care professionals in the detection and treatment of domestic violence.

Sensomotory function after ACL-reconstruction was tested prior and after a proprioceptive rehabilitation program with the Kinesthetic Ability Trainer (KAT 2000) which documented the static balance index (SBI). A control group consisting of healthy subjects was also tested two times with a time interval of six weeks. The results showed an adaptation effect to the testing device in the control group with an 17.12% increase of the SBI. There were no differences between the dominant and non dominant extremity. The active sensomotory function in the healthy knee of the operated patients showed no difference to the control group. Proprioceptive capabilities of the acl-reconstructed knee joints was significant reduced 6.42 weeks after surgery. A special proprioceptive rehabilitation program for six weeks significantly reduced this deficit. In the patient group sensomotory function of both knee joints could be increased to a level higher than in the control group. In the operated extremity the static balance index increased 27.75% and in the non injured extremity the SBI increased 16.88%.
